Customer Service and Support Analyst
(Information Technology Analyst 2) in service of the State Department of Education (SDE). This position provides technical and communication needs along with helpdesk, desktop and mobile support. As an ITA 2 you will work under the Bits Workforce Enablement group to provide quality service, helpdesk and communications needs to staff.

SDE Mission
SDE is the administrative arm of the Connecticut State Board of Education. Through leadership, curriculum, research, planning, evaluation, assessment, data analyses and other assistance, the Department helps to ensure equal opportunity and excellence in education for all Connecticut students. PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In a state agency Information Technology (IT) environment, this class is accountable for independently performing a full range of information technology tasks and project coordination work involving infrastructure systems support, security and application development in an IT environment.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Installing and configuring operating systems on a Windows based platform
- Imaging and configuring devices with (SCCM)
- Identifying, analyzing and resolving complex technical problems on a variety of hardware and Software products
- Diagnosing and resolving moderate connectivity problems utilizing traces, hardware diagnostics tools and software aids
- Testing and evaluating computers to ensure that devices will meet user requirements and specifications.
- Troubleshooting personnel issues with Active Directory account resets, resource rights and access issues on various systems
- Configuring, troubleshooting and maintaining communication systems such as IVR, Call Center and RightFax
- Configuring and troubleshooting mobile devices with Avaya software, Active Sync, Apple ID’s, Wi-Fi access and upgrades for Apple OS and Android platforms
- Evaluating and applying software patches and upgrades to operating systems on desktops, laptops and mobile devices
- Configuring, installing, and maintaining data communications equipment including Servers, hubs and switches
- Providing technical Audio visual support for conferences
- Installing and configuring software applications such as Adobe, MS Suite, Outlook, Antivirus, O365, TEAMS, Laserfiche and SAS
- Installing, configuring, testing, evaluating and implementing new software technologies related to operating systems and various applications
- Installing, configuring, testing, evaluating and implementing new hardware technologies related to computer systems, networking, servers, workstations, and laptops
- Applying patches and fixes as needed
- Act as liaison to hardware and/or software vendors, technical staff developers and management
- Assist in researching, determining, and writing technical specifications and requirements for desktops, laptops and mobile devices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Six (6) years of experience in information technology (IT) operations, programming, systems/software development or another IT related support area.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE
One (1) year of the General Experience must have been performing professional information technology work in such areas as: installation and support of microcomputer hardware, software and operating systems; analysis, design and development of information systems; network hardware and software installation and support; network hardware and/or software problem diagnosis and resolution; performing any closely related professional IT function.
NOTE: For state employees this is interpreted at the level of Information Technology Analyst 1.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
1. College training in management information systems, computer science or information technology related area may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling six (6) months of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.
2. A Master's degree in management information systems, computer science or electrical engineering may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience supporting Windows 10
- Experience with Windows installation, Microsoft 365 configuration and Microsoft Teams
- Experience analyzing and troubleshooting hardware and software technical issues
- Experience Installing, configuring and troubleshooting desktops and laptops
- Experience setting up and supporting mobile devices (Cell phone and Hot Spots)
- Experience configuring network printers
