Job Description:

Join UChicago Medicine, as a Customer Service Receptionist (Registry) in the Patient Information Department at our Ingalls Memorial Hospital.


Job Summary

The Customer Service Receptionist receives all visitors to the hospital, administers appropriate passes to visitors, information assistance to telephone callers, continuously updates patient information and patient visitor pass files, and performs related duties as assigned. Works in partnership with patient care units, pro-actively assists physicians, identifies and provides individual patient and family needs.


Additional Job Functions:

  • Follows written goals and objectives for review annually as established and agreed upon in previous evaluation.
  • Actively look for opportunities to learn and expand an already proficient knowledge and skill base.
  • Serves on appropriate committees, councils, or task forces.
  • Apologize sincerely for problems or delays.
  • Use service recovery to correct an issue, create a “WOW” experience and re-capture our patient’s loyalty.


Required Qualifications

  • High School graduate
  • Three years minimum experience in healthcare setting preferred.
  • Demonstrate basic office skills.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Extremely professional.
  • Must be able to sit, walk and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to push patients in wheelchair down hallways, in and out of elevator.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • May need to hold/carry equipment/materials a distance.


Position Details

      • Job Type/FTE: Part-time, 5:00 AM – 11:30 AM CST (Unil covid hours are changed, it will then be 5am-9am)
      • Shift: Day (Monday - Friday)
      • CBA Code: Non-Union
      • Location: Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, IL
      • No Visa Sponsorship Available

Must comply with Ingalls Memorial Hospital's COVID-19 Vaccination requirement as a condition of employment. If you have already received the vaccination, you must provide proof as part of the pre-employment process. This is in addition to your compliance with the Flu Vaccination requirement as well. Medical and religious exemptions will be considered consistent with applicable law. Lastly, a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check are also required for all employees prior to hire.
