Software Developer/Data Scientist

Position Summary

SURVICE Engineering is currently seeking a Software Developer/Data Scientist to support our DoD IAC Team. You will accelerate your career and become an integral team member within the defense community.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with IAC Team software developers and data analysts to enhance and expand database and AI/ML tool advancements to facilitate greater utility and knowledge management of data.
  • Write tools to assist in mining data from a diverse set of data sources. Demonstrate an affinity for applying Natural Language Process (NLP) techniques in ingesting data, establishing context involving both structured and unstructured data.
  • Apply constructs of cybersecurity and data integrity associated with open-source data aggregation and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
  • Write tools to assist in comparative analysis of data relevance to targeted performance metrics.
  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and bast application of data ingesting, parsing, and curation tools and techniques.
  • Critically analyzing and integrating software requirements into applications
  • Writing efficient code using standard practices
  • Writes and delivers complex code and modules for new features and debugs existing code and modules
  • Works collaboratively with other IAC team members, IT team members, and the product team as part of an Agile Development process
  • Comfortable working with multiple programming languages
  • Aggressive problem diagnosis, troubleshooting, and creative problem solving skills.
  • Maintaining software documentation, changelogs, and user guides
  • Implementing CI/CD and continuously improving upon the applications
  • Deploying code to development and production environments
  • Documenting information, experiences, and lessons-learned to increase efficiency of the software development processes

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, Math or other technical field of study and 2+ years of relevant experience. Desired Experience

  • Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on producing data to drive decisions and actionable information.
  • Experience using computer languages (Python, C/C++, SQL, MATLAB, JavaScript or similar etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from medium and large data sets.
  • Experience working with and creating data architectures.
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • DoD/military software systems experience a plus.
  • Eligible for DoD SECRET security clearance required
  • Takes initiative to learn new and evolving technologies
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a development team
  • Exhibits exceptional problem-solving skills and can think outside of the box to solve problems
  • Data analytics and visualization (R, Chart.js)
  • Machine learning models and tools (OpenCV, Tesseract)
  • Python, PHP, Javascript, Typescript, Node.js, Angular
  • Cloud architecture, deployment, and security (Azure, AWS)
  • Structured (SQL and mySQL) and nonstructured (NoSQL) database architecture API development such as REST or SOAP
  • Website programming with HTML, CSS, and WordPress custom
  • Authentication/authorization protocols (OAuth2.0, SAML Federation)
