Dental Hygienist Job at Dr Terry P. Dyer DMD
We are looking for a dental hygienist to join our team in Florissant. We are a family owned practice that has been in the area for over 35 years. Our team is looking for someone who is reliable and able to build trust with patients of all ages. We pride ourselves in having a deep knowledge of relevant health and safety rules and are searching for a hygienist with a good eye for oral diseases and anomalies.
Responsibilities:
- Clean and help protect patients’ teeth (e.g. remove plaque, root plane, or apply fluoride)
- Educate patients of all ages on proper oral health care (by demonstrating, for example, good brushing techniques)
- Give instructions to patients after dental procedures
- Take X-rays or dental impressions
- Ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible before their examination
- Sterilize dental instruments properly
- Maintain documentation and charts on each patient
- Monitor supplies
- Identify conditions like gingivitis, caries or periodontitis
Skills:
- Valid dental hygienist license
- A knowledge of Dentrix and Dexis systems
- Attention to detail
- Experience in preparing and maintaining dental equipment
- A working knowledge of periodontal treatment
Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years experience would be helpful
- Experience performing X-rays and use of X-ray equipment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
