Developmental Disabilities Eligibility Specialist - ASL Job at Lane County Government

This Eligibility Specialist position will conduct intakes and eligibility determinations in both ASL and English, assisting individuals and legal guardians/caregivers to complete intake applications for services and will participate in outreach events and presentations in the community. Eligibility Specialists request and review all collected records from educational, medical, psychological/testing records, makes determinations of eligibility in accordance with state OARs, assists as needed with appeals/hearings, and documents all activities including required paperwork and progress notes. This position completes redeterminations as required by state OARs for individuals at ages 7 or 9, and 18 or 22 years of age; assists applicants and families/guardians in coordinating county to county transfers.

Lane County Developmental Disabilities Services strives to provide a responsive, cooperative lifespan delivery system of support, training, care, monitoring, protection and crisis response for persons with developmental disabilities and their families. Services are designed to maximize opportunities for self-determination and self-sufficiency.

Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • One year of experience of working with persons with developmental disabilities.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
  • Successful hire will be contingent upon passing ASL proficiency test

  • This position is subject to a full criminal offender information record check. If fingerprinting is required, the fee is paid for by the successful candidate and the expense is non-reimbursable.
  • Offers of employment are contingent upon consenting to and successfully passing a drug screening test; negative results are reimbursable.
  • In accordance with county policy, the incumbent of this position is required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, or have an approved medical or religious exception, prior to starting work.

Pay: $25.93 - $34.62 per hour
