Rate is $15.45/hour

Caritas House provides elders with a residential assisted living community, with supportive services and personalized assistance with activities of daily living, including meals, bathing, toileting, and dressing. Medication management, housekeeping, laundry, recreational and social activities are also provided. A full-time registered nurse is on call 24/7, providing oversight and assessing the residents as required.

Caritas House is currently seeking a Dietary Assistant - Full Time 11am - 7pm, with every other weekend obligation, who will be responsible for transportation of food, assisting with serving meals and for cleaning the dining and kitchen areas. Caritas House is a community for seniors that provides additional services that help our residents remain independent and safe. Our dining program provides our residents with three meals a day and access to healthy snack options. The Dietary Assistant helps prepare the dining areas for meals and ensures the residents' needs are being met during mealtimes. The position offers opportunities to learn food safety and food preparation techniques.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Sets up Caritas dining room to prepare for each meal.
• Picks up food carts, trays, etc. from St. Elizabeth kitchen and deliver to Caritas kitchen and dining area.
• Ensures that meals served to elders match ticket.
• Monitors the dining area during meals and assists elders as needed.
• Completes food temperature logs as required and reports problems to dining services supervisor.
• Applies established dietary procedures for storing, handling, preparing, and transporting food to avoid injuries and contamination and to ensure food safety and infection control

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Have a working knowledge of food handling, storage, and preparation procedure
• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and work in a very warm environment
• Have an understanding of customer service
• Must be Serve-safe certified, or become certified within 6 months of employment.
• Position requires the ability to move freely throughout the building including reaching, bending, pushing, lifting at least 45 pounds and standing 85% of the time.
• Must possess visual and hearing acuity and clear speech sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job effectively.
