Job Purpose

The purpose of a Community Involvement DSP is to support adults with disabilities both in the community and at the Dutton Farm site. The individuals will ensure the success and well-being of program participants and communicate daily activities and goal progress with the Site Director each day.

Duties and Responsibilities

Administrative

Obtain and maintain a Chauffer’s license (Any cost associated will be paid by Dutton Farm)

Report vehicle maintenance needs to direct supervisor

Enforce all Dutton Farm community safety protocols while on field trips with participants

Provide daily reports of participants’ individual progress and achievements

Complete incident reports as necessary at Site Directors request

Maintain daily logs and reports; prepare reports according to Dutton Farm policies and procedures

Use Swipeclock to log daily hours and request time off

Attend scheduled staff meetings

Direct

Develop community connections and relationships

Aid in safe transportation and community involvement activities

Drive and oversee participants two times per day while on field trips in the Community

Assist individual in achieving maximum potential and self determination

Continuously assess surroundings for safety of assigned group, reporting any concerns to Dutton Farm management immediately

Promote engagement for all participants in assigned group

Assist individuals during on-site activities

Teach appropriate skills and involve individuals in meaningful and valued activities

Promote positive social interactions

Evaluate and assist participants in assigned group with tasks that prove too difficult

Provide personal care assistance as needed (feeding and toileting)

Warm up meals as necessary for individuals

Build a strong, authentic, and trusted bonds with all participants

Monitor and evaluate goal progress for individuals in assigned group

Fulfill all other direct care requests by Chief Program Office and/or Site Director as given

Qualifications

Mission aligned

Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities

High school diploma required

Must be 18 years or older

Must pass background checks

Valid driver’s license required

Basic computer skills

Must complete training within 30 days of employment

Must be able to commit to up to 35 hours a week

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Maintain a professional demeanor with a focus on advocacy, respect, and demonstrating a strong work ethic

Must be self-motivated, reliable, dependable

Strong ability to adapt and willingness to be flexible

Working Conditions

Casual business attire with a focus on neat, appropriate clothing that is considered acceptable by the public. Uniforms will be provided if necessary.

Physical requirements

Ability to lift 50 lbs. This is a physically active position requiring walking, lifting, getting up and down etc.
