Primary Responsibilities
The Director of Learning Assistance Programs (LAP) plans, develops, organizes, directs, and evaluates comprehensive tutorial and supplemental instructional programs that contribute to the University’s mission and vision of providing student-centered education and commitment to student success. The director should be a strong education advocate with a broad education and managerial background along with a visionary capacity to develop and implement new programs and services.
Develop, implement, and assess comprehensive tutorial and Supplemental Instruction (SI) programs- Develop messaging and promote services for targeted audiences and university constituents
- Develop and present information regarding services offered, program data, and utilization
- Recruit, train, hire, and manage Learning Assistants and Supplemental Instruction Leaders
- Assist Learning Assistants and SI Leaders in developing strategies for working with individual and small group tutoring sessions
- Provide administrative oversight to tutorial services provided at the Regional Campuses
- Supervise daily operations pertaining to Learning Assistance Programs and staffing
- Complete written reports and summaries of data related the Learning Assistance Programs
- Collaborate effectively with all academic assistance providing entities across campus, as well as faculty, to evaluate and improve the provision of tutorial and SI related services
- Maintain any required accreditation and reporting requirements for the LAP
- Effectively manage the LAP budget
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Higher Education, Student Affairs, Education, Instructional design, or a related field
- Three years of experience in academic support or educational setting in higher education
- Experience developing, coordinating, and evaluating instructional practices or instructional programs
- Experience with data collection, analysis, assessment, and report writing
- Ability to work with a broad range or university constituents including administration, faculty, staff, and students
- Demonstrated record of success working with students who are academically at-risk, first generation, economically disadvantaged, and students with disabilities
- Experience managing and overseeing a budget
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong technical and organizational skills
- Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multicultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
