Position
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Director of Development is chiefly responsible for strategizing and executing the organization’s fundraising efforts, with a focus on diversification of revenue. The Director of Development supervises the Development & Outreach Coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Develops strategy to increase financial support among individuals, corporate and community partners, and foundations, including identifying new funding sources
  • Researches chief prospects and builds activation pipeline with targeted deliverables to be executed by Director of Development, Associate Director, and Managing Director
  • Strategizes moves management plan along with system of accountability and recognition for stewards
  • Develops and implements donor stewardship program to include varied touch points, including cultivation events
  • Stewards and solicits a portfolio of new and existing donors to deepen engagement and retain/upgrade their financial commitments
  • Administrative and logistical lead on all fundraising events, including Golf Outing, Golf

Invitational, Growing Together Gala, as well as other smaller events throughout the year; serves as point person on-site

  • Partners with program and marketing staff to remain well-versed in organization’s accomplishments, current priorities, and future goals and develop compelling program statements and marketing collateral to attract funding and further our mission
  • Prepares quarterly reports to the Board, in addition to an annual report, on the implementation of the organizational fundraising strategy
  • Collaborates with Associate Director and Development & Outreach Coordinator to research grant opportunities, compose applications/proposals, and reports

January 2023

  • Ensures effective development operations through regular assessment and refinements of systems, tools, and processes in place to support team’s work
  • Performs special projects in collaboration with program, marketing, and other team members, as well as additional tasks as needed to support organization mission

Qualifications

  • A strategic and creative development professional with at least 8 years’ progressive fundraising experience
  • Proven track record in a range of fundraising areas including major giving, planned giving, foundation support, direct mail, on-line and special event planning
  • Bachelor’s degree required, CFRE preferred
  • Professional experience with event management
  • At least 1 year supervisory experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a track record in building relationships externally and internally with all stakeholders including board members
  • Familiarity with the philanthropic community of Long Island, NYC, and Westchester
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to lead and effectively manage remote and onsite teams
  • Working knowledge of CRMs, such as Little Green Light, and fundraising platforms, such as

GiveSmart

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Superior organizational skills, including managing multiple tasks effectively with strict attention to detail
  • Professional presentation and ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Problem-solver who takes initiative, has a “can-do” attitude
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
  • Personal qualities of integrity and dedication to Smile Farms’ mission

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
