Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Pursue and exemplify spiritual growth as a Disciple of Christ through prayer, Bible study, faithful giving, service to others and witnessing to your faith in the world. Create and maintain a MAP (Minister Action Plan) that follows the church mission. This position will be scheduled Sunday-Thursday each week.
Technology
- Worship Service
- Produce the in person and online Sunday morning worship experience and serve as a single point of responsibility for all visual and sound perspectives.
- Ensure that all worship components of the service, musical and technical, advance the theme and vision of UCUMC, in coordination with the Director of Worship and Arts.
- Provide expertise on video, sound, editing, and lighting to the production staff and volunteers.
- Coordinate with the AVL Director and Sound Engineer to make sure all lyrics and videos are properly loaded and tested on video screens. Ensure proper shutdown after the service.
- Provide ongoing management of the live stream production and supervise the technology team volunteers.
- Coordinate the design, production, and editing of videos such as the announcements, special events, testimonials, sermon and music clips, or other content as needed.
- Other Sunday activities
- Coordinate the Sunday morning live stream viewing in the café, narthex, and cry room.
- Maintain the interface between the live stream, Facility Scheduler daily calendar, and all lobby displays throughout the church building.
- Coordinate with administrative staff the Sunday morning worship emails, QR code printing, and placement of welcome cards and prayer cards in the worship area.
- Coordinate the online chat providing links to available forms and online giving. Support and encourage additional messaging to the online audience to make them feel part of the service.
Digital Media
- Ensure consistent branding and messaging across digital platforms including the website, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube channel, Tik-tok and outdoor electronic sign to promote the mission and vision of the church. Coordinate church and conference hashtags.
- Provide support to all ministry staff in the use of technology to produce messaging, videos, pictures, and other items for display on digital media. Encourage and support the use of volunteers to assist in the collection and posting of digital media for each ministry area: Children, Youth, Worship and the Arts, and Welcoming
- Coordinate and maintain the church website to:
- Encourage, educate, and support visitors to the church;
- Promote all worship areas including current videos, pictures, and events;
- Encourage involvement and connection with small groups, ministries, membership, and online giving.
- Provide training as needed to staff and volunteers to facilitate website edits.
- Create content as needed to support digital media presence, event promotion, and worship service programming.
- Develop and maintain guidelines for content, frequency of posting, and responsibilities for each digital media channel. Provide training and monitor the use of each media channel.
Marketing and Communications
- Partner with the marketing team and help develop a comprehensive plan to implement, manage and maintain media relations, marketing, public relations, and online/print communications that promotes awareness both within the church and in the community.
- Provide strategic direction on new ways to utilize technology and communications channels to promote the church mission and goals.
- Develop marketing information/tools for all ministry areas that could include: one-page information sheets, postcard mailings for Easter and Christmas, prayer card, welcome card, special event information or other requested marketing materials as needed.
- Produce the weekly church email to support current events and consistent messaging of the themes and missions of the church.
- Coordinate mailings to the community with the administrative staff.
Other Management Duties
- Attend seminars, workshops, and classes for continuing education when time and budget permit to stay abreast of current trends in digital media and worship production technology. Encourage applicable staff and volunteers to do likewise as opportunities arise.
- Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings sharing creative ideas and updates on areas where assistance is needed from other staff members.
- Attend Worship ministry team meetings with the core team leaders (i.e., Director of Worship and Arts, Worship team, Choir, Creative Worship Team, and Hospitality team).
- Develop and maintain the digital media, worship service production, and marketing budgets. Oversee the operation, maintenance, standardization, and purchase of all software and equipment both inside and outside the UCUMC campus.
- Control expenses by gathering and submitting budget information; scheduling expenditures; monitoring variances; implementing corrective actions.
- Oversee that all church functions that require media are properly staffed and run (Weddings, Dinners, Group Meetings, Funerals, Concerts).
Other Duties and Responsibilities:Performs other duties as assigned and reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees. Accomplishes staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring and appraising job results; conducting training; implementing and enforcing policies and procedures. Develops schedules; assigning and monitoring work; implementing productivity standards, resolving operations problems, implementing new procedures. Supervisor of Roles: Sound Technician, Streaming Sound Technician, Video-Digital Slide Technician, and Lighting TechnicianQualifications:
- Has a Christian commitment to Jesus Christ, the Church, and the community
- Lives the core values of both the United Methodist Church and UCUMC
- Strong audiovisual, sound, lighting, and production skills
- Strong project and process management skills
- Extensive digital media and technology background
- Knowledge of or ability to learn video editing software, Rise vision, Canva, and other software platforms.
- A collaborative and teachable spirit used to develop, guide, and coordinate with multiple staff and lay leaders.
- Strong organizational/time management skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as with a diverse team of all ages.
- Maintains a knowledge of and connection with the culture, including the spiritual and/or secular issues that they may be encountering and has a heart to reach people where they are at
- Uses media platforms to inspire people to join in the pursuit of the church’s vision.

Education and/or Experience:
Preferred qualifications:
- A member of the United Methodist Church and/or familiar with the teachings and practices of the United Methodist Church
- Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and experience
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Prior experience recruiting, training, equipping and empowering volunteers to lead
- Prior experience developing and managing an operating budget
Language Skills: English, other languages a plusMath Skills: Basic math skills Reasoning Ability: Critical thinking and ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
