Assistant Director of Human Resources
John A. Logan College seeks a collaborative and seasoned human resource professional to serve as its next Assistant Vice President of Human Resources. As a key leader on campus, reporting directly to the President, the purpose of this role is to develop and implement the human resources strategy needed to support the College’s mission and goals. The individual must have the ability to communicate effectively and lead
the HR team in providing high-quality customer service.
Essential Functions
  • Participate in the recommendation, development, and implementation of College-wide policies, goals, objectives, procedures, systems, and programs related to human resources.
  • Oversee the management and integrity of personnel processes and HR office functions, such as, recruitment, onboarding, personnel records management, employee evaluations and compensation administration.
  • In alignment with the college’s strategic plan, provides leadership in the facilitation of a diverse and inclusive workplace for all faculty, staff, and students.
  • Interpret, monitor, and ensure proper application of, and compliance with, state and federal law, College policy, and collective bargaining agreements. Advise College leadership as to personnel and compliance issues.
  • Serve as the Affirmative Action Officer and Title IV Officer for the College. Handle employee accommodations.
  • Process FMLA requests.
  • Create and oversee the development and administration of the Human Resources annual budget; monitor and approve expenditures.
  • Promote a work culture that values diversity and demonstrates the delivery of exemplary customer service, innovation, and quality services to employees and the community.
  • Assist administration with employee staffing.
  • Coordinate campus wide personnel training and annual evaluations.
  • Serve as college liaison and maintain visibility in the College community.
  • Plan and direct employee appreciation events, along with recognition programs for service awards and retirees.
  • Serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the college President.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • At least four years of successful and progressively responsible professional experience in human resource management in a medium (50 -100 employees) to large (100+ employees) organization.
  • Experience with collective bargaining agreements/union relations, including contract interpretations.
Preferred:
  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership
  • SHRM-CP
  • Knowledge and experience in higher education
Salary:
The annual salary range for this position is $95,000 - $113,000.
