Director of Specialized Program Systems and Methodologies.

BASIC FUNCTIONS:
Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent, the Special Education Director of Secondary Education works with students, families, and staff providing support at the school and in the classroom level. The director provides the school and staff with curriculum support (academic, behavioral, social emotional, communication), professional development and serves as an instructional leader in collaboration with the Special Education Leadership team in the planning, coordination, and administration of the systems and structures focused on self contained programs. This position will often facilitate IEPs meetings and lead family meetings.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage the implementation of the program model.
  • Work with the implementation team to develop and refine the systems of support for the program model.
  • Ensure all elements of the program are effectively implemented with fidelity (communication, behavior and social emotional).
  • Increase inclusive opportunities school wide.
  • Serve as a resource to staff in dealing with classroom management issues.
  • Assist in developing programs to promote positive student behavior as well as intervention strategies.
  • Confers appropriate consequences for behavior in developing FBAs and PBIPs.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of intervention programs that address the needs of at-risk students.
  • Co-evaluate teachers (with site principal) in the self contained setting. Assists with school events and activities.
  • Facilitate and/or support PLCs, grade-level and other team meetings.
  • Coordinate professional learning opportunities for certified and classified staff.
  • Co-Evaluate teacher staff in collaboration with site principals.
  • Coordinate PLC meeting with classroom teams and related service providers.
Qualifications:
  • Masters in Education.
  • Experience working with autism programs.
  • Administrative license.
Marginal Duties:
  • Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Physical Effort:
  • May lift, pull, push or carry.
  • May stand for a prolonged period of time.
  • May move light weight furniture.
  • May be exposed to outdoor elements.
  • May require strength to push/pull 30-35 lbs.
  • May require physical intervention for students experiencing behavioral difficulties.
  • Physical demands may require assistance from other personnel.
Supervision: Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services.
