Summary
To accurately scan health record documents into the correct section of the electronic patient record (EPR) on a timely basis.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1 Ensure that all steps are followed to ensure all incoming health records and requests are accurately scanned into the corresponding patients EPR including, but not limited to, the following: All paper documents are stamped with the date of receipt prior to scanning; Paper records are scanned into the correct section of the patient’s EPR according to criteria established by the medical staff and administration
Additional Job Functions:
1 Act as ROI Coordinator (Release of Information) when primary ROI Coordinator is absent to process incoming requests for release of Information in accordance to Health Records Policies and Procedures and HIPAA regulations
2 In the absence of the ROI Coordinator, internal and external requests for health record information are responded to in a timely and appropriate manner assuring patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA, federal and state regulations. Update Release of Information Log
3 Coordinate records held at Iron Mountain, including requests for records and Retired Record logs.
4 Receive and sort incoming mail.
5 Retrieve patient health record information from UMASS medical consults and results (including Lab) and scan in a timely manner.
6 Perform other duties and work assignments as assigned by the supervisor including attendance of requested department, center, and outside meetings and/or trainings.

5 Ability to prioritize job related activities in order to take action when needed.
6 Some analytical ability is required in order to gather and summarize data for reports, find solutions to various administrative problems, and prioritize work.

1 High School Diploma or equivalent
2 Basic computer and data entry skills
3 1-Year experience within a health related field
