Reporting to the Department Supervisor, the Documentation Review Assistant, demonstrates an advanced level of proficiency in multiple payers' documentation requirements, secures complete documentation to ensure payment for DME services that have been provided by Johns Hopkins Home Care Group. With contact and follow-up with Insurance Companies, doctors and other clinicians and individuals. Independently troubleshoots and resolves complex documentation issues to completion on a daily basis. Acts as a resource and helps to train others. Resolves validations. Additional duties may include payer audits, software system testing and all other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Obtains appropriate ICD9/ICG10 required to bill payers.
Requirements
Education
High School graduate or equivalent required.
Post high school education or training preferred.
Coding certification preferred
Experience
Three years experience in health care related field required; DME billing and or collections experience preferred.
Minimum 2 years experience professional coding/ medical coding.
Skills / Knowledge
Ability to review medical documentation and assign appropriate HCPC code and ICD9/10 code
Ability to resolve incorrect and or non-qualifying codes
Extensive knowledge of HCPC & ICD9/10 coding-Must be able to review medical policy & match qualifying ICD9/10 code to HCPC code
Knowledge of government payer requirements for DME equipment and supplies
Knowing how to integrate medical coding and reimbursement rule changes into the reimbursement processes
