Vicki's Little Rascals, is an exclusive five-acre outdoor doggy daycare retreat, offers the most unique membership play experience on the Peninsula with pick up, play, and drop-off pet services for the Greater San Mateo area.

We have an immediate opening for a Doggie Daycare Attendant/Driver –– otherwise known as our "Rascal Wranglers". We're seeking mature animal-savvy individuals interested in joining our tight-knit team caring for the membership pups entrusted to us. Individuals in this position are responsible for the transportation of our beloved rascals to and from our playland, Rascal Ranch, in a friendly and safe manner using our company vans. At Rascal Ranch, Rascal Wranglers work together outside, loving on the dogs and monitoring play for safety. If you LOVE dogs, being active outside and driving, then this IS the role for you!

This is not a temp gig – this is a role for someone who shares a passion for excellence and who infuses enthusiasm into everything they do. The role of Rascal Wrangler requires a thirst for dog knowledge, hustle, customer service skills, initiative and an old fashioned commitment to our team and our clients. We are caretakers–– we follow protocols and pay attention to the details to ensure our safety standards. This position reports to the General Manager and Owner. Work authorization for the location is required.

We offer above-average industry pay and benefits including:

  • Competitive Salary - $21.50-$23 per hour- DOE

This position is an ideal schedule–– especially for the pet industry.

  • –– No weekend, early morning or evenings shifts are ever required. We are closed on all holidays, including an annual week-long closure between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
  • Life balance––this current opening is 25-30 hours per week, daytime shifts Monday-Thursday and two Fridays per month.
  • Steady shifts means that you can plan around a consistent schedule and count on predictable paychecks.

  • Candidates must currently reside within a 30 minute commute from Redwood City. Candidates must have a current California Driver's License and clean driving records and background check.*

Rascal Wranglers are the most important asset in our service commitment to our clients. They interact with customers daily and are expected to be friendly, reassuring in their dog interactions and engage in polite conversation. We do not have a uniform, but we do have a very basic dress code to ensure that our team reflects our core values as trustworthy and professional.

Rascal Wranglers are also our boots on the ground–– and coordinating with management. They are required to be in frequent contact with management and participate in team chats throughout the day via Slack to keep the day running smoothly. Communication skills, transparency about challenges or setbacks are absolutely essential to the team. The logistics around multiple vans, clients and a daily schedule take a synced team to be successful.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Reporting any safety concerns with dogs to management immediately.
  • Reporting any safety concerns, dashboard lights or unusual driving performance of company vans to management immediately.
  • Taking 20-30 photos of the dogs at play and uploading them to management at the end of each shift.
  • Posting after play wrap up reports after the ranch and at the end of the shift.
  • Weekly trips to self service vacuums stations for company van cleaning and bi-weekly trips to car washes such as Ducky’s for a professional exterior and deep interior cleaning.
  • Making time to drop off company vehicles before shifts or after shifts as needed for maintenance
  • Uploading receipts for gas or other authorized expenses
  • Updating logistics notes as needed for management’s route planning

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Rascal Wrangler applicants are required to have a California Driver’s License and at least 3 years of driving experience. Applicants are also required to submit an up to date driving record as part of the application process.
  • Must be able to pass background check and submit references from previous jobs
  • Applicants are required to have physical mobility as lifting, walking, bending and moving objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have a basic level of dog handling experience and be at ease around dogs of all sizes
  • Applicants must be comfortable and able to easily learn new technology. We use Slack, scheduling software, GPS and Google Photos among other apps throughout the day. Experience with our apps is a plus, but not required.
  • Speaking, writing and reading English is required
  • Positive attitude and willing to learn is must
  • Applicants must be able to work in an outdoor environment outside- rain or shine.
  • Applicants must be able to work while surrounded by dogs, dog hair and sometimes, dirt and dust ––without issue.
  • This position requires applicants be available for all required daytime shifts on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Two Friday daytime shifts per month are also required.
