Education Facilitator / Instructor - Human Resources & Education - Part Time, Days Job at Northwest Health - La Porte
The position reports to the Manager/Director of Human Resources and is responsible for identifying, developing, implementing and evaluating educational programs to address the needs of team members throughout the system. Manages the e-learning system; trains educators on program design and trains team members on use of the system. The person in this position must be capable of effective interaction with a wide range of people, yet also capable of independent actions and self-direction. As a member of the department, the trainer/educator is expected to contribute to the team effort of education in the healthcare system, therefore, interfacing with all levels of team members and management. Is responsible for assuring regulatory requirements for education are met.
Education:
- Requires Associates Degree in Supervision, Education, Training, or related field. Bachelor's Degree in Supervision, Education, Training, Organizational Development or related field preferred.
Certifications/Experience:
- Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in adult education with at least 3 years’ experience in a relevant healthcare role preferred.
- CPR Instructor Certification required. CPR Instructor Certification must be obtained within 6 months.
- Safe Sitter Instructor Certification required. Safe Sitter Instructor Certification to be obtained within 6 months.
General Responsibilities:
- Assists with the daily job functions of department and coordinates special project amongst team members.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates educational programs for all healthcare system team members.
- Responsible for design and execution of educational needs assessments. Identifies resource materials appropriate to subject matter.
- Teaches educational programs, including new team member orientation, annual mandatory training, and continuing education.
- Assists in the development and revisions of appropriate job descriptions, department orientation criteria, and team member performance evaluation standards.
- Leads quality assurance/quality improvement plan related to team member education throughout the healthcare system. Prepares reports, identifies trends, and takes ownership to improve all processes as necessary. Displays knowledge of system regulations and procedures; takes responsibility for assuring educational components are in compliance with regulatory systems such as the Indiana State Board of Health, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospital Organizations.
- Manages the Advanced Learning Center (ALC). Provides guidance to trainers/educators on program design and use of the system. Assists trainers/educators in program development for ALC. Assures that all team members are trained in effective use of the system.
- Leads the coordination of AHA classes in accordance with the standards of the American Heart Association. Assists in maintaining the CPR equipment, inventory, supplies, and educational records. Assists in preparing CPR, ACLS and PALS certification/recertification cards for participants.
- Must have good intellectual skills to anticipate needs of those unfamiliar with new situations, enthusiasm for learning and teaching, perceptivity in relating to people, and persistence and patience in accomplishing projects. Flexibility to meet the demands of changing situations. Requires flexibility to meet changing priorities and tact in dealing with people. Capable of communicating with people of various educational levels and backgrounds.
