Electrical & Instrumentation Planner Job at Allied Power

Position Description:

The Fossil E&I Planner develops work packages for assigned areas by planning and coordinating the labor, material and other resources necessary to complete the work in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner. Provides direction and technical expertise in specific systems (for example, electrical, instrumentation, controls, mechanical) or equipment (for example, scrubber, turbine) to develop work packages for routine maintenance, preventative maintenance, emergent work, planned outages, unplanned outages and project work. Interfaces with outside services, resources and vendors to support the work. Determines level of support required from Supply Chain, Maintenance, Engineering, Safety and Operations Departments to develop, maintain, and complete work packages. Supports all work management activities during outage periods.

Essential Functions:

1. Provide Tier One troubleshooting to develop job plans.

2. Analyzes equipment subject to work order in order to determine the labor, materials and equipment necessary for the work package

3. Create job plans for the effective execution of work by providing job scopes, job step sequence, labor and material requirements, skill requirements, specifying the necessary tools and equipment, external resources, and determining work order costs.

4. Identify permitting requirements and special isolation needs.

5. Create task lists (job plan library) for recurring jobs.

6. Create purchase requisitions and reservations for necessary materials, equipment or services and orders material.

7. Forward completed “ready-to-schedule” job packages to the Scheduler.

8. Continually improve the job plans by collaborating with Maintenance Supervisors and Engineers to 1) Maintain a spare parts inventory, 2) Build & Maintain Bill of Materials for area equipment, 3) Continually update task lists to ensure: necessary changes or improvements are incorporated, and efficiencies are captured per job feedback, 4) Obtaining and analyzing feedback from the work crew through the job feedback process and 5) Updating the task list and job plan libraries.

9. Review work scopes for changes which would result in triggering a Management of Change (MoC)

10. Create Job Packets as needed by providing spec sheets, vendor manuals, P&IDs, pictures, isolation plans, job plan/feedback form, etc.

11. Assist in emergency or critical priority jobs by expediting materials and coordinating other crafts/resources and fulfilling any other activities (non-standard) assigned by the supervisor.

Physical Demands:

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Exposure to noise, grease, fumes, gases, electrical energy, and inclement weather conditions. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Required Education, Experience, Certification and Licenses:

1. High School Diploma or GED

2. Vocational, Trade, or Apprentice training

3. E&I Journeyman experience in a power plant or equivalent industry

4. Experience with project management software and tracking plant work activities

5. Qualify as maintenance supervisor
