Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans and lays out the routing, placement, type, gauge, balance, load, continuity and proper and safe operation of circuits, systems, equipment and controls;
  • Formulates the layout sketch of required electrical circuits, wire new test setups, install strain gauge circuits; and checks the installed system to insure that specified electrical test conditions are attained; and may troubleshoot the electrical portions of the test equipment during test programs to determine cause of malfunction;
  • Installs, modifies, repairs and loads and tests systems, circuits and devices;
  • Determines and installs wiring, conduit, fixtures, transformers and other electrical devices in the size, type and arrangement needed for proper and safe operation of electrical systems, circuits and equipment;
  • Performs demolition work associated with either the installation, repair or removal of electrical systems, equipment and related components;
  • Conducts routine operational checks and preventive maintenance tasks, noting and correcting malfunctions;
  • May be required to dig ditches due to burned out wires in order to trace the problem(s) by using the meter and voltage tester to determine the gauge and the size;
  • On occasion, may be directed by supervisor to supervise two or three workers, depending upon the size and complexity of the work project;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or GED and at least six (6) years trade experience in electrical work; or other qualifying combination of education and experience.

Incumbent must possess a current Journeyman Electrician’s License.

Due to field responsibility, incumbent must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s permit; and be insurable in accordance with the Authority’s Fleet Management Policy and Procedures Manual.
