Job Description
The Department of Labor and Workforce Development (DOL) provides many benefits to employees to acknowledge and

Expanded PSLF (TEPSLF) Programs, and employee training. The DOL also provides options for participation in the
Telework, Alternate Workweek or Flextime Programs pursuant to the Department’s policy.
Under direction of a Supervisor in Unemployment Insurance, as a trainee and productive worker, the ES Trainee assists in
examining and determining eligibility or ineligibility of claims for Unemployment Insurance based on New Jersey
Unemployment Insurance Law. When necessary, contacts employers and claimants by email, mail or telephone in order to
secure needed documentation to make a claim determination. Assists in conducting fact-finding interviews and resolves
discrepancies with claimants, employers, etc. in order to properly determine claims.

EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree. Applicants must submit a copy of

title Claims Examiner UI/DI in accordance with Civil Service Commission procedures. The inability of an employee in a trainee
title to attain a level of performance warranting advancement shall be considered cause for separation.
LICENSE: Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather
than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
