With limited supervision and broad general direction, provides Emergency care and instructions to patients at a level commensurate with licensure status, according to pertinent standards of care, medical control authority standards and hospital policy.

Communicates with other employees, department heads and professional staff at various health care facilities during delivery or pickup of patients; Has frequent direct patient contact and frequent contacts with other Emergency Response members, Medical Control Authority and bystanders, friends, families, etc.

POSITION HOURS: Casual position 24 hr. shifts.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Completion of an approved Emergency Medical Technician Licensing Program and fulfillment of periodic relicensing requirements.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

Valid Michigan Driver License; Current BLS Certification; Valid Michigan Emergency Medical Technician license.

Demonstrates ability to establish effective working relationships and effective communication with peers, patients, families, physicians, and all other hospital support personnel.

Demonstrates the ability to assume a leadership role in emergency/crisis situation.

OTHER:

Hours may be adjusted in response to workload demands; Low census may be utilized in accordance with hospital policy.

Requires sharing of 24-hour call.

Requires being located within 4 minutes of the ambulance rig while on duty.
