Engineering Process Engineer

The Engineering Processes Engineer reports directly to the Natrium Manager of Engineering Process and is focused on the integrated procedure and process development for plant systems, structures, and integrated analysis of the facility. The successful candidate will coordinate with engineers working on analysis, drawings, and other engineering deliverables across all Natrium project technical groups to ensure that needed processes and procedures are available and consistently implemented across the Natrium project.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordinating geographically diverse design team members to develop processes and procedures supporting design and documentation. The team is composed of TerraPower employees, subcontracted resources, partner organization employees, and customers.
  • Support development and maintenance of plant level and system level requirement and specification documents, as well as support of associated digital design tools and configuration management processes.
  • Apply Systems Engineering principles, methods, and tools to the development of nuclear and industrial facility procedures and processes.
  • Develop and control the integrated definition of facility functions, performance, and design compliance through development of processes and associated information infrastructures.
  • Develop and implement processes and tools to support design work, including management of engineering databases and tracking and resolving of open items.
  • Support design reviews and resolution of cross functional technical concerns.
  • Lead and support the integration of plant information into licensing basis and regulatory submittal documents that support the licensing of nuclear facilities.
  • Support the integrated design processes to coordinate contractors, engineering disciplines, and system design organizations to implement design control including change control, and application of approved methodology design tools.
  • Coordinate and lead planning efforts and maintain schedule adherence for design activities.
  • Support continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices to maintain the highest quality of engineering design and proactively identify efficiency/enhancement opportunities.

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • BS. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or other relevant engineering discipline from an accredited university and 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in implementing integrated plant design of nuclear systems, including complex systems and structures
  • Strong understanding of configuration management principles, as well as knowledge of design control tools application on nuclear or similar complex industrial applications.
  • Knowledge of risk-informed methodologies for integrated plant design or similar probabilistic methods in design, desired but not required.
  • Experience in a broad range of topics throughout a product lifecycle, including conceptual design, final design, construction, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter and possess ability to coordinate and lead a design team’s effort with minimal direction.
  • Ability to deliver projects that include many competing objectives and design constraints, with ability to resolve conflicts between objectives.
  • Ability to work on tasks that require a multi-disciplinary approach.
  • Experience working to quality standards on design activities, such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001.
  • Actual position starting level and title will be determined based on assessment of qualifications.

Salary Range: $116,030 - $193,384

  • Typically, our employee salaries are within .90 – 1.0 of the mid-point of the posted salary band. Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individual’s qualifications and experience. This range is specific to Washington State.
