Performs casework duties under general supervision; does related work as required.

· This position provides direct case management for the Child Care program, processing applications and completing interviews and assessments to determine approval for the program assistance.

· Provides ongoing oversight through re-assessment and case closure.

· This position authorizes payments to vendors, initiates purchase orders and completes data entry for service authorization.

· This position is responsible for program compliance and making fraud referrals as needed.

· This position provides additional support to families addressing personal/family problems, financial challenges, employment issues and other issues and barriers to services that arise.

· Must have a strong working knowledge of the Child Care policies in addition to general knowledge of other DSS benefits programs and the service array in the community.

· This position provides consumer education regarding quality childcare, assists families locate subsidy vendors and inspection reports for subsidy vendors in their area.

· This position responds to inquiries on becoming a subsidy Childcare vendor and assists with vendor payment issues and works in partnership with the VIEW Case managers.

· Must be proficient in social work principles and practices, human behavior and the current social, economic and health problems.

· Requires strong and effective oral and written communication skills, to plan and organize work efficiently and have empathy and objectivity working with clients.

· Provide emergency shelter assistance as required in state and local policy and at the direction of the County Manager.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

This position requires a valid Virginia driver's license.
