Little Ireland Farms LLC is a family-owned crop farm and vertically integrated small scale livestock feed manufacturer. The cropping operation uses the latest in farm technologies included VRT and autosteering in late model farm equipment. Operating large farm equipment is an essential part of this job. This person needs to be able to work without supervision and take pride in their work. Mechanical skills are an important part of this job.

On the job training will be provided and opportunities to participate in further educational programs are available.

Our ideal candidate will be self-motivated, well rounded, have great attention to detail, is teachable, and has a willingness to perform typical farming jobs. Typical farm jobs include: feed mixing, bagging and preparing for delivery, seasonal field work including tillage and planting, fertilizing, spraying and harvesting. Crops include: Specialty soybeans, field corn, wheat, barley, and hay.

This position will work closely with the owners on overseeing and carrying out day to day farm operations. The individual will have the opportunity to be involved in future growth of the farm including crop planning, innovative enterprise addition and new markets for feed sales.

Tasks Include:

• Grind and mix feed rations
• Operate equipment such as tractors, sprayer, combine and grinder mixer.
• Operate a variety of trucks for hauling and delivering farm products.
• Repair buildings and equipment as needed.
• Building and repairing fences
• Using chain saws to maintain field edges
• Farm record keeping related to crop production, feed manufacturing and equipment maintenance.
• Other jobs as assigned

Qualifications:

• Valid Driver’s License required
• Tractor experience preferred
• Prior agricultural experience preferred
• Basic maintenance and repair experience with ability to learn
• Comfortable with working extended hours
• Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to assist with repairs
• Handy man skills like wood working, electrical, wiring, fabricating, metal work, ect. are all great skills for the job

Working Conditions:

Standing, sitting, driving, walking, lifting up to 100 lbs., operating and working in proximity of farm machinery, outside work and exposure to inclement weather.

Schedule would include Monday thru Friday with weekends during planting and harvesting seasons. During planting and harvesting, working hours will vary with weather and may be up to 16 hours per day.
