Job Description:
The Fishing Tool Supervisor will work on a number of field tasks associated with the operation of equipment and tools in a downhole correction on a well site. This job will help the fishing and rental and downhole services team in the field and provide corrective solutions to complete the job.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Analyzes conditions of unserviceable oil or gas, disposal and water wells.
  • Confers with superintendent, engineer, and company site representative to gather information regarding size of casing, openhole, tubing size and connection, drillpipe size and connection, production equipment and/or tubing, drillpipe,casing or openhole restrictions and conditions in wells.
  • Identify a corrective plan of action and fluently communicate with company personnel such plan of action.
  • Identify and requisition the appropriate specialized tools and equipment to perform the services.
  • Direct the completion of that plan of action through use of specialized tools and techniques to recover lost equipment, non-essential production equipment and other obstacles from cased and boreholes of wells.
  • Directs rig crew in applying weights to drill pipes, in using special tools, in applying pressure to circulating fluid mud, and in drilling around lodged obstacles or specified earth formations, using whipstocks or other special tools.
  • Observes load variations on strain gauge, mudpump, and motor pressure indicators, and listens to sounds of engines rotary chains to detect signs of faulty operations or unusual conditions in wells.
  • Must follow Axis standard operating procedures and comply with company policies and other specialized equipment and safety training required by the company.
  • Communicate and work effectively with the rig crew per the standard operating procedures for the downhole operation.
  • Perform daily basic maintenance and check troubleshooting of equipment regularly.
  • Prepares and keeps accurate paperwork of tools run in the hole, on delivery and job tickets, job reports and other administrative forms.
  • Report to your direct supervisor a report of the last 24 hours of operation or since your last report.
  • Promotes sales of fishing tool services, including calling on customers and potential customers.
  • Continue training with team to expand knowledge and experience of fishing tool services.
  • Any other duty, responsibility or task as assigned by the FRS Operations Manager or Business Line Manager.

Qualification Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education.
  • Valid Driver’s license and acceptable MVR; Class A or B CDL is a plus.
  • Minimum two (2) years of Rig operator, driller experience or 2 years experience in downhole oilfield tool services, with working knowledge of workover and/or rigs and downhole experience.
  • Expert knowledge of downhole fishing tools, with ability to perform maintenance on the equipment in a safe, and professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently and also in teamwork with other crews, particularly when under pressure in situation where priorities change or emergency situations.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, twist, squat, crawl and walk; may have long periods of standing or sitting.
  • Exposure to working outdoors and extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and written; English preferred.
  • Basic writing, math and computer skills.
  • Must be able to work a varied schedule and shifts and travel as job requires.
  • Reliable telephone (cell phone) communication and transportation.
  • Ability to clear/pass pre-employment screening, testing and job-relevant hiring requirements.
