Sturgeon Bay High School: The school secretary responsible to the Supervising Principal. It is expected that the confidentiality of office and school functions is always maintained. Establish and maintain a positive rapport with teachers, students, and parents, which will promote a positive environment and attitude within the school and community. This is a full-time 10 month position.

School Secretary Duties & Responsibilities

*Organize and maintain an efficient and effective office that handles a variety of tasks for the administration, faculty and staff, students, and parents.

*Perform secretarial and clerical duties associated with the functioning of the HS Office as specifically related to both the principal and athletic director.

*Program the automated bell system and run modified bell schedules when needed.

*Distribute mail and handle paper and digital correspondence for the office.

*Act as receptionist; answer and transfer incoming phone calls; answer the doorbell; greet and assist visitors; assist students.

*Coordinate all aspects of use of substitute teachers (e.g., scheduling, placement, guidance, assistance and setup on arrival, etc.).

*Arrange appointments and maintain a schedule for the principal as needed.

*Make announcements and operate the school PA and intercom systems.

*Complete reports associated with operation of the High School Office and the athletics program. Order and maintain office supplies.

*Maintain inventories of keys, books, materials, and equipment, as needed.

*Supervise service learners assigned to the High School Office.

*Recommend to the principal improvements needed in office procedures, operations, and equipment.

*Assist the principal with unusual or emergency situations.

*Assist the principal with annual public events (e.g., parent-teacher conferences, National Honor Society selection process, Carl Perkins documentation, awards ceremonies, Senior Night, graduation, etc.).

*Coordinate maintenance on all office equipment.

*Manage the office cash register and online payment system.

*Work with families on balances due. Accept and post all payments to student accounts.

*Serve as the primary point of contact for administration of medication and coordination with the school nurse.

*Maintain study hall binders.

*Schedule and document fire drills. Work with the principal to schedule and document safety and tornado drills.

*Perform teacher checkout.

*Coordinate use of and recordkeeping for the high school credit card.

*Assist the athletic director and athletic trainers in completion of student athlete paperwork and payment of fees.

*Work cooperatively with other secretarial staff in completion of large or time sensitive projects or emergencies.

Job Type: Temporary

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
