The Role:

The Head of Accounts Payable is responsible for the management of the Accounts Payable function and will supervise a team of three direct reports while working in close collaboration with other Finance leaders. The Head of Accounts Payable will play a key role in transforming the Accounts Payable function at Lord Abbett, as the firm seeks to modernize systems and processes and develop talent.
We’ll trust you to::
- Lead and manage staff of three AP professionals, providing support with daily tasks as well as longer term career development
- Develop, implement, and maintain systems, policies & procedures to ensure adherence to company guidelines and best-in-class controls
- Drive and implement AP system and process change initiatives, working closely with other leaders in Finance and across departments as appropriate
- Oversee and maintain all of the firm’s Concur invoice and expense processes and payments
- Assist with month-end closing and accruals, including AP account reconciliations, ensuring individual and team deadlines and deliverables are met accurately and timely
- Play a leadership role in managing the corporate credit card relationship for Lord Abbett, including being a point person for questions about accounts
- Maintain vendor relationships, resolve payment inquiries including payment disputes, misapplied payments and statement reconciliations
- Work with internal stakeholders as needed to manage problem resolution, documentation, authorization and expedited payments
- Assist with time-sensitive ad hoc analysis and reporting
- 10+ years of prior Accounts Payable experience with at least 3 years in leadership / management roles
- Demonstrated ability to evolve and transform the Accounts Payable function with respect to systems, processes, policies and procedures
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team-oriented environment; strong emphasis on team building through training, coaching and mentoring
- High level of professionalism and ability to engage with a broad range of constituencies, both internal and external
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Familiar with standard accounting concepts, practices and procedures
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills as well as knowledge of Concur and Oracle
