About the Role:

Cana's Head of Beverage Development is at the forefront of the flavor and beverage creation for the Cana One. In this role you'll not only be the technical expert in flavor and beverages, you'll also be leading innovation efforts within the beverage creation space. You are a leader who is excited to set the example in and out of the lab and mentor a high performing team. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with other groups in the organization, and also with influencers, celebrities, and external partners in custom beverage development. We're building a category-defining experience that stands to make a huge positive environmental impact—that takes hard work, empathy, and a whole lot of teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deep know-how of the food chemistry and flavors that are relevant to wine, spirits, coffee, tea, cocktails and other beverages.
• Proven ability to mentor a team in the technical aspects of flavor and beverage creation
• Understanding of the beverage industry and ability to navigate potential external partnerships with different ingredient suppliers
• Understanding of sensory testing and science, able to partner in all aspects of consumer testing
• Ability to develop, grow and shape a technical development team in a startup environment, ability to manage development in the midst of change, growth and evolving scope.
• Create and foster a collaborative and uplifting team culture
• Proven ability to create innovative flavors in food and beverages for commercial products
• Skillful collaborating cross functionally with multiple technical and external stakeholders for developing innovative, complex beverage product(s)
• Familiarity using analytical data to design beverage and flavors to match desired sensory profiles
• Project management skill set, an attention to detail and bias toward action

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS or higher in Food Science, Chemistry, Enology or similar degree
• 7+ years of experience with beverage product development
• 5+ years experience leading and mentoring a team

Other Desirable Qualifications:

• Certified by Society of Flavor Chemists
