Human Factors (HMI) Engineer Job at Robotic Research

Office Location:
Clarksburg, MD
Tele-work Opportunities: On-site preferred but will consider remote work.
Travel Requirements: If remote, travel to the office in Clarksburg, MD will be required. If on-site, no travel is expected for this position.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Designing and implementing user interfaces for autonomous systems
  • Architecting, implementing, and maintaining data extraction and user interaction tools both for frontend and backend.
  • Implementing APIs for developers to use and extend current functionalities.
  • Working with relevant stakeholders to ensure adherence to User Interface Designs.
  • Working with Systems Engineers to develop User Interface Requirements.
  • Interfacing with Customers and End Users to constantly improve the designs.
  • Identifying performance bottlenecks and safety issues in the system, benchmark on different methods and provide solutions.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience with Unity/ Unreal
  • Experience in programming for User Interfaces (Qt, or similar)
  • Hands-on experiences with HMIs
  • Experience with C++/ C# development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry experience of building autonomous vehicle onboard visualization system
  • Experience with wire framing tools
  • Design User Interface Plans and Menu Books to increase the usability of autonomous systems.
  • Experience with visualization or editing tools
  • Experience with Graphics rendering tools, such as WebGL, OpenGL and Three.js
  • Good understanding of containers, build systems, and infrastructure automation
  • Experience with visualization or editing tools
  • Human Factors, Graphics User Interface (GUI), Human Machine Interface (HMI)
  • Experience with ROS

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field, or with equivalent industrial experience
  • 2+ years of similar academic and/or professional working experience
