MISSION :
  • Assist the Safety Manager in guaranteeing the application of regulations and Group orientations within the Safety domain.
  • Assist managers of his/her perimeter in the animation of our Safety approach
  • Provide needed knowledge in his/her domain to develop a sustainable Safety culture
  • Ensure the correct application and effectiveness of the site's Safety Management System within the Safety domain.
  • Assure compliance to regulatory and internal safety and hygiene requirements. Integrate requirements into site documentation system.
  • Ensure exposure risk assessments (qualitative and/or quantitative) are performed in accordance with Groupe and regulatory standards.
  • Continuous performance improvement as assigned in the site in line within the plans defined with the site while respecting MMW approach.
  • Analyze and report hygiene data in compliance with Groupe and regulatory standards.
  • Manage hygiene data and documents.
  • Ensure that ASRC can monitor airborne chemicals during an emergency.
Job Description:
The Chemical Plant Safety Technician / Industrial Hygienist ensures the correct application and effectiveness of the site's Environmental Protection / Safety Management System within the Safety domain. This is done by supporting the facility in the areas of safety, regulatory compliance, industrial hygiene, worker's compensation, environmental protection, security, fire protection, and ergonomics
This position is located at the ASRC location which is one of three chemical plants of Michelin worldwide. The mission of ASRC is to produce synthetic elastomers to supply the Group’s tire production factories. In addition, this site is responsible for industrializing new elastomers, resulting from research, which will help create the tires of tomorrow. ASRC provides technical assistance to the Michelin plants globally and supports major projects.
Responsibilities:
  • Carries out regular assessments of the hygiene, health and safety risks at the site, and coordinates prevention plans.
  • Establishes and maintains the EP / hygiene and health procedures and assures compliance with these components with the EP management system.
  • Ensure regulation watch/respect on site
  • Keep informed of regulation watch led by the zone/country correspondent and, should the need arise, add regional or local regulation requirements
  • Analyze the discrepancies, build up and steer corrective action plans
  • Integrate the regulatory requirements to the site documentation system and check their implementation
  • Monitor risks regarding human health
  • Assess or lead the assessment of chemical, (physical) and biological risks at work post level
  • Define the follow-up of staff exposure to chemical, (physical) and biological factors at work post level based on risk assessment results
  • Drive the implementation of protection and prevention means to ensure risk control at work post level
  • He/she sets the example for engaging Managing Daily Performance through their daily coaching in the shops and active support and treatment of problems.
  • Develop staff awareness-raising and training programs
  • Guaranty the availability and conformity of Safety Data Sheets
  • Manage the site Hazardous Communication Program
  • In the early stages of site projects, inform about the requirements relating to risk control in the field of Industrial Hygiene
  • Ensure that all necessary information to define medical surveillance protocols are made available
  • Guarantee performance on hygiene, safety and health matters.
  • Ensure traceability of IH data and actions
  • Perform self-diagnostics for the site and report domain indicators
  • Through the build-up of its expertise, maintain the site EP team’s competence
  • Prepare and take part in internal and external audits in the field of Industrial Hygiene
  • Take part in managing safety, health and hygiene crisis situations. Leverage internal and external resources when applicable.
  • Develop emergency plans and prevention plans.
  • Give technical and operational support for safety, health and hygiene matters.
  • Provide professional expertise
  • Intervene as an expert in the relations with social partners and external bodies
  • Take an active part in the zone or country Industrial Hygiene network
  • Report or implement good practices
Qualifications:
  • BS/BA in Occupational / Chemical Safety, Chemical Engineering is preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in safety or related function in a chemical manufacturing environment
  • Process Safety Management (PSM) experience is a must
  • ASP or equivalent certifications is a plus
  • Environmental Protection experience is a plus
