Technology Services provides technology support to the faculty, staff and students at the college to ensure technology is functional, enabling the college to provide a positive, caring and dynamic learning environment that inspires student success, values diversity and promotes community vitality.
Provides first level (Tier I) helpdesk support to college faculty, staff and students who contact the ITS helpdesk. Responsible for maintaining the College’s computers and associated peripheral equipment including preventive maintenance and repairs to other electronic office and classroom equipment. This equipment includes network components, computers, servers, audio-visual, video conference equipment, telephones, and other classroom electronics.

Compensation and Benefits
The hiring range for this position is $40,000.00-$50,000.00. Salary will commensurate with education and experience. The position is classified staff and as such is eligible for the benefits package offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia for state agencies. For more information, please visit

policy 1.61 Teleworking, effective July 5, 2022, Virginia state employees will return to the workplace. Consistent with pre-pandemic policies, telework may be an option for certain eligible positions. Eligible positions are determined by the type of work and job requirements of the position, as defined by heads of agencies. Positions requiring more than two days of telework weekly will require approval from the Department of Education’s Cabinet Secretary. Positions requiring more than two days of telework weekly require approval from the Office of the Governor’s Chief of Staff.

Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in installation and maintenance of Windows workstations, Apple workstations, and Windows servers.
- A minimum of 1 year of work experience in direct technical support which would include all of the following areas: installing and troubleshooting networking equipment, cabling, wireless networks, computer software, and computer hardware. Knowledge of security roles in Information Technology
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to provide high quality customer service
- Ability to learn and implement new technology solutions
- Use and configuration of computing devices (Laptops, tablets, cell phones, etc)
- Software installation and configuration.
- Basic networking knowledge including LAN, WAN, and wireless configuration, primarily for endpoint support.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently, as well as part of a larger team
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to scale ladders
- Demonstrated experience providing direct customer service required
- Basic knowledge of Various OS’s including Windows 10, MacOS, and iOS required
- Valid driver’s license
