Position Summary: The Information Security Specialist will manage security projects aligned with the goals and needs of the organization. This role will develop project plans associated with the security requirements and implement security protocols, procedures, and policies. Additionally, this role will perform administrative duties such as assessments, security audits, detailed reporting, and records management.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain necessary documentation of security systems, projects, and processes to ensure a cohesive understanding of system details.
  • Assist in gathering, investigating, and analyzing security requirements, processes, and incidents.
  • Implement and manage security projects and initiatives.
  • Advise, document and train others on how to identify, avoid and mitigate security threats.
  • Participates in incident response activities as appropriate including triage, communication, and escalations and reviewing root cause analysis.
  • Attend cyber or information security-related events and training to stay up to date on any trends and to inform the team of effective risk mitigation strategies.

§ Perform security assessments and audits, maintain detailed reporting, identify security gaps, and suggest changes and improvements.

§ Assist business process owners with developing corrective action plans to address security and compliance gap findings identified from audits and risk assessments in a timely manner.

  • Must ensure all security policies, standards, and baseline configuration documents are maintained, updated, and distributed to all relevant parties.
  • Ensure that budgets, schedules, and performance standards/requirements are established and attained.
  • Assist in defining project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders, and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Prepare, track, and measure security performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

§ Professional hands-on experience in information systems auditing, control, risk management, privacy, data protection, and security compliance.

§ A foundational understanding of security technologies.

§ Must be responsive and have the experience to close corrective actions in a timely manner.

§ 3-5 years of experience in leading a project.

§ Obtained Project Management training or certification within the last 3 years.

§ Ability to influence others to agree and comply with security program requirements.

§ Demonstrates strong verbal and written proficiency

§ Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

§ Demonstrates problem-solving, decision-making, and functional area knowledge

§ Solid organizational skills, including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.

§ Ability to demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, flexibility, and integrity.

§ Ability to work with external clients and cross-functional teams within the organization.

§ Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

§ Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field of study

§ Ability to strike a balance between showing initiative and seeking appropriate guidance and input from others.

§ Technical writing skills.

§ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to overall company success.
