Provide quality assessment and education support utilizing a computer based delivery system for a diverse customer base that encompasses illiterate to post-secondary levels of education. Responsible for pre/post testing of customers and monitoring progress through one-on-one interaction. Increases awareness and use of the Assessment & Learning Center through printed advertising, in-person presentations, email, and phone conversations. This position is in-person and is not eligible for consistent telework arrangements.

Work activities will be performed three (3) days at the Fort Lupton location and two (2) days at the Greeley location Monday thru Friday 8am-5 pm.

$24.80 - $31.41 per hour plus benefits (see benefits tab on the job posting). The position will normally start at $24.80 per hour.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Provides instruction and support in the Assessment & Learning Center to a diverse population of customers that includes at-risk youth, court mandated participants, and professional job seekers. Provides information on training opportunities that improve basic skill level on a computer-based delivery system. Assists customers in using the training and tutorials offered in the Center or through remote locations.

Enters customer users into the system. Administers and oversees all assessments and testing conducted in the Assessment & Learning Center. Scores assessments, interprets results and provides information to the customer, program participant’s case manager, or business as it pertains to their individual request. Provides vocational advising and recommendations to customers by interpreting assessment tests conducted in the Center.

Participates in or instructs workshops conducted through the Assessment & Learning Center using proven teaching methods. Designs curricula in multiple subject areas to meet the diagnostic needs of the Assessment & Learning Center customers.

Administers High School Equivalency lessons through approved training platforms and pre/post assessments for the Test for Adult Basic Education and other vocational preparation. Works directly with case managers and outside referring agencies by providing information on participant’s level of ability, offering recommendations for the type of training needed for advancement.

Maintains accurate and confidential files by entering Assessment & Learning Center program participant’s information and their activity and progress into a data management system. Reviews and evaluates participants progress and status and track results. Ensures paperwork is received and accurate for all Center fees including tests, remediation, training, and other charged services.

Maintains Assessment & Learning Center equipment through regular cleaning and maintenance activities. Keeps the Center area clean and provides a professional environment for customers.

Increases community knowledge and use of Assessment & Learning Center services and products throughout Weld County by developing partnership relationships with school officials, employers, case managers and other department staff who work with or refer customers. When possible, participates in community sponsored events at schools and other appropriate city or county activities.

In the Fort Lupton office, instructors may perform basic Wagner Peyser services including, providing employment information and resources, referring customers to appropriate programs or partner agencies, and answer incoming phone calls. When appropriate, the Greeley Center may operate as an overflow for Wagner Peyser customers.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Satisfactory completion of an associates degree
  • Successful completion of Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered in lieu of the degree.

Required Work Experience:

  • One year full time work experience teaching or training older youth and adults in a classroom or workshop setting.

Preferred Work Experience:

  • One year of full-time work experience instructing or training older youth and adults in a classroom or workshop setting.
  • Knowledge of workforce assistance programs.
  • Experience working in a human services environment.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Must possess ability to keyboard at 35 words per minute.
  • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License and adequate Liability Insurance. Must provide own transportation and be willing to travel throughout Weld County and work in the Fort Lupton office up to three days per week.
  • Must pass Human Services background checks.

Testing may be required for applicants who are selected to move forward in the hiring process.

Ability to enter data into several different computer programs. Ability to learn and apply new computer skills on a regular basis. Knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Windows and Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, and Outlook.

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and department policies and procedures. Ability to write assessments, reports, and other correspondence.

Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one, small, and large group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.

Ability to apply math concepts and calculations in the work environment.

Ability to apply common sense to problem solve in a work environment.

Ability to work independently and handle high-stress situations, prioritizing competing tasks or responsibilities in a fast paced, high volume, and ever-changing work environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee may be required to sit for extended periods of time and is required to stand and move around the center throughout the day. Occasionally the employee may be required to lift and/or move heavy files or objects up to 25 pounds. The employee frequently is required to use their hands and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus such as that used when using a computer or reading.
