Intermediate Account Clerk PT - Library Job at City of Arlington

$15.05 - $18.81 an hour

Under general supervision, performs routine clerical and bookkeeping activities of intermediate difficulty requiring a sound knowledge of organizational and departmental procedures related to the work performed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Ability to verify accuracy and process overdue library account reports and correspondence, daily deposits, accounts payable invoices, and incoming shipments.

2. Ability to perform various clerical functions and operate different office machines such as PC, calculator, and copier.

3. Ability to perform data entry as needed.

4. Ability to interact tactfully and effectively with customers; communicate orally with diverse types of people; to respond to inquiries by applying knowledge of general library policies and procedures.


OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

5. Maintain departmental records and coordinator records retention processes as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products or other word processing, spreadsheet and database programs, and basic computer tasks.
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic database concepts of various record tables within an existing structure.
  • Knowledge of standard filing procedures.
  • Skill in entering data accurately and quickly
  • Skill in analyzing information needs with careful attention to detail.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment based on policies and procedures.
  • Ability to exercise discretion with library patron and employee records.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with fellow employees and the public
  • Ability to lift or exert forces equivalent of lifting up to 20 pounds.

QUALIFYING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED. Plus, plus two years of clerical experience including general bookkeeping. Experience working in a library setting a plus.
