As a Developmental Specialist for Greene Co Board of DD, you'll get to:

• Participate in the development and follow-ups of the Individual Family Services Plan; assist families in writing functional outcomes;
• May function as a Primary Service Provider (PSP) leading as the main contact for the transdisciplinary team regarding communication and visits or serves as a Secondary Service Provider (SSP) supporting the family and the PSP through coaching;
• Provide ongoing services to children in natural environments, including but not limited to virtual, home, and community settings.
• Use formal and informal developmental measures to understand the child’s strengths and developmental functioning to meet caregiver/parents’ priorities, needs, and interests as outlined in the IFSP.
• Use evidence-based practices and parent coaching to focus intervention techniques in activities that are based on his/her interests and daily routine.
• Provide families with current information and support related to enhancing their child’s development.
• Perform developmental evaluations/ assessments in the home, in a community setting, or via virtual platform to determine a child’s eligibility and need for services; conduct ongoing evaluations of child growth and development.
• Complete initial and ongoing child assessments.
• Work within a team environment with supportive supervisors!

Minimum Qualifications

• Must maintain Developmental Specialist Certification by Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (will receive at hire).
• Must have valid Ohio driver’s license and maintain a driving record in compliance with Greene County Board policy.
• Must successfully pass a criminal background check through BCII, Nurses Registry, Office of Inspector General check, DODD Abuse Registry check, and other required checks.
• Must successfully complete pre-employment physical including drug testing.

Education (please review carefully before applying!):

1) Hold a bachelor's degree or graduate-level degree in education, health, social or behavioral science, social services, human services, or other related field from an accredited college or university; or

2) Hold a bachelor's /graduate degree in an unrelated field from an accredited college or university AND has at least two years of full-time (or equivalent part-time), supervised, paid experience working with children birth through age five with disabilities, developmental delays, or diagnosed physical or mental conditions that have a high probability of resulting in a developmental delay and their families; or

3) Hold a bachelor's/ graduate degree AND hold a valid license in counseling; early childhood education for ages three through eight, grades kindergarten through third, or special education; hearing impairment intervention; medicine; nursing; occupational therapy; physical therapy; psychology; psychiatry; social work; speech-language pathology; or visual impairment intervention.
