Inventory Control Operator I Job at SCRRA/Metrolink
SUMMARY
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Inventory Control Operator will support the day-to-day operation of the material warehouses and storage.
**This position will initially work a day shift out of our Central Maintenance Facility (CMF) location – 1555 San Fernando Rd. in Los Angeles, CA for training (a minimum of 90 days). Upon completion, the position will then be located out of our Arrow Maintenance Facility (AMF) location – 958 W. 3rd St, San Bernardino, CA, working overnight from 10:00p – 06:00a with possible on-call shifts over the weekends.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is the entry level in the Inventory Control Operator series. At this level, assignments are generally limited in scope and are performed within a procedural framework established by higher-level employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties listed below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be interpreted as an exhaustive list of responsibilities.

Perform the functions of material processing following the established inventory control procedures. Maintain an orderly and continuous throughput of goods in and out of the area.
- Promote safety and practices safe work habits while complying with all company policies and procedures.
- Provide timely movement of materials throughout the operation to support each department’s needs.
- Perform stock keeping functions for incoming and outgoing goods including receipt verification, stocking of goods, packaging, inventory cycle counting and annual physical inventory, goods location maintenance and picking up orders.
- Perform functions in the materials management system during physical inventory and cycle counts or as otherwise may be required to support the operation of the department.
- Adhere to guidelines, SCRRA’s standard operating procedures and all Board of Director’s approved Policies and Procedures for inventory control.
- Perform inventory replenishment orders for new and repairable material. Analyze inventory usage and stocking levels to minimize stock out and disruption in supply of material.
- Maintain all paper and electronic files as assigned.
- Load and unload goods from vehicles and provide assistance in securing shipments to vehicles, trailers, etc.
- Operate equipment including pallet jacks, forklifts, bridge cranes, and truck borne lifting equipment.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are in safe and proper operating condition before using them.
- Provide assistance to contractors and vendors. Researches and identifies parts for customers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Education and Experience

High school diploma, GED or its equivalent.
- A minimum of three (3) years of work experience in a warehouse or inventory control in a railroad environment.
- A combination of training, education and or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered when determining minimum qualifications. Advanced relevant coursework may also substitute for a portion of required experience.
- Valid Class C Driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record of no more than three moving violations and no DUI’s within the last three years.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Transition between a stationary position at a desk or work location and move about Metrolink facilities or other work site locations
- Operate tools to perform the duties of the position; such as computers, office equipment and work-related machinery
- Transport equipment or boxes up to 25lbs
- Exchange ideas by means of communication
- Visual acuity to detect, identify and observe employees or train movement and any barriers to movement when working on or near railroad tracks
- Hear and perceive the nature of sounds when working on or near railroad tracks
- Balance, ascend/descend, climb, kneel, stoop, bend, crouch or crawl within assigned working conditions and or locations

Working Conditions
Position requires work in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, or temperature. Work may also be conducted in outdoor environments, at construction sites, Railroad Track and Right-of-Way environments, and warehouse environments, with possible exposure to individuals who are hostile or irate, moving mechanical parts, and loud noises (85+ decibels, such as heavy trucks, construction, etc.)

Retirement
Employees receive retirement benefits through the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS). Employees hired after January 1, 2013, who are new members, or returning after a break in service of more than six months, will be enrolled in the 2% @ 62 formula and contribute 7% as a pre-tax payroll deduction. Classic members are enrolled in the 2% @ 60 formula.
Employees contribute 1.45% toward Medicare and do not contribute toward Social Security. Additional details on SCRRA's retirement plan will be provided to candidates during the job offer process. For additional information about CalPERS, please contact CalPERS directly.
Health Plan
SCRRA offers medical, dental and vision insurance coverage for employees and their dependents. Employees may choose from 11 medical plans and will contribute 10 -20% of the plan's premium based on the selected plan. SCRRA pays the full premium for dental and vision insurance for its employees and their dependents.
Life and Accidental Life Insurance Coverage
SCRRA pays the premium for Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment insurance for employees for an amount equal to one times annual salary, up to $200,000. Supplemental coverage is also available.
Leave Time
SCRRA provides employees with Paid Time Off (PTO) for vacations, illness, injuries, medical/dental appointments, religious holidays, personal business and emergencies. PTO accrual is based on years of service starting with 25 days per year for the first four years of employment.
At the CEO's discretion, prior service at a public transportation or public agency, or rail transportation company may be counted towards an employee's total service years to increase the employee's PTO accrual rate. To be considered, Human Resources requires that a written request along with verification and confirmation of the years of service be provided prior to the start of employment with SCRRA. Human Resources will provide the final determination on behalf of the CEO.
Additionally, SCRRA observes nine paid holidays.
9/80 Alternative Work Schedule
SCRRA offers a 9/80 Alternative Work Schedule (AWS) for working eight-9 hours days and one 8-hour day to obtain 1 day off during the pay period.
Transportation Pass
SCRRA provides a no cost Metrolink ticket or a subsidy up to the cost of the highest cost Metro monthly pass (currently $352) for the purchase of another public transportation pass.
Retiree Medical
Employees are eligible for medical coverage upon retirement from SCRRA.
Educational Assistance
SCRRA provides up to $1,000 reimbursement per fiscal year for tuition, books and mandatory student fees for courses that are relevant to employment.
