Hiring Immediately - IT Data Analyst

Transdev Services, Inc. is seeking an IT Data Analyst for its Boston Public Schools transportation contract. The ideal candidate will prepare and orchestrate monthly reporting in order to meet contractual requirements and performance analysis of the school bus operation; coordinate and direct the collection, analysis, management and reporting of data and statistics; and complete analysis of performance data in support of continuous improvement and the generation of required daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

Responsibilities:
  • Works with Transdev Operations' management staff to develop methods and procedures for monitoring, extracting and analyzing data from a variety of software and technology systems in order to measure Transdev’s performance.
  • Imports data from heterogeneous sources like Excel, CSV files and flat files into SQL Server destination.
  • Extracts, transfers, and loads source data into respective target tables to build data tables.
  • Ensures complete data verification and reconciliation to ensure accuracy.
  • Creates daily and weekly user defined operational reports and shares data with Operations managers to help improve overall on-time performance including yard departures, vehicle idling, and route performance.
  • Researches data models and suitable data validation methods to organize and improve process systems and operational requirements. Consistently demonstrates situational awareness, an understanding of the technology, and a willingness to constantly adjust to changes in the environment.
  • Works with MySQL, Java Script and PHP to design and develop a webpage to track Driver behaviors and behind the wheel trends.
  • Develops test models to improve the quality and performance of the scheduled services. Measures software progress by testing new features.
  • Documents recurring issues of new software and any potential bugs.
  • Provides concise, clear, and accurate verbal and written feedback regarding Driver and vehicle operations.
  • Assists the Senior IT Business Analyst with other organizational data analysis, as needed.
  • Performs other duties as directed.
Qualifications:
Education, Licensing, and Certifications Required:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Education, Licensing, and Certifications Preferred:
  • Graduate degree in one of the above disciplines preferred.
Experience:
  • One (1) year of experience managing databases and conducting data analysis.
  • Experience with software configuration management systems.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and performance optimism. Adept in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (pivot tables, data indexation, charting, etc.) and SQL database design.
  • Familiarity with website development using JavaScript, HTML or other computer language.
  • Excellent multi-tasking, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Effectively plans and organizes their work to achieve desired outcomes. Demonstrates flexibility in applying different approaches to changing work demands.
  • Excellent detail to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Ability to express concepts (e.g. business, technical, and other), ideas, insights, opinions, and conclusions, so that others understand or are persuaded to act.
  • Ability to create an environment that encourages and values the opinions of others and promotes sharing of information and ideas.
  • Thoroughly investigates and researches multiple sources to expose details and complete information about resources, issues, problems, and so forth. Conducts in-depth research, asks probing questions, and transcends surface issues.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt quickly to new and developing technology.

  • Must be able to work specific shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends.
  • Must be self-motivated and demonstrate good judgement, in fast-paced, high stress environments.
  • Travel requirement outside of immediate area (as a percent): <5%.
