We currently have an opening at our Foothill Ranch, CA (Orange County) facility for a Junior Electrician/Electrician-Apprentice, responsible for the build, installation, commissioning and maintenance of facility power distribution at 208/480V AC to high voltage and high current systems. The construction, connection and end-to-end commissioning of complex low voltage control systems, instrumentation and various power supply equipment. This is a full-time position with rich compensation package.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform highly diversified duties to procure, build, install, end-to-end connection and commissioning of all power distribution within the facility. Maintain production machines and plant facility’s electrical equipment.
• Plan, layout, install and repair a wide variety of complex electrical equipment including automatic machine and preprocess controls, control centers and panels, relays, circuit breakers, electronic controls.
• Diagnose problems, replace and/or repair parts, detect and replace defective control modules, test and make adjustments.
• Perform regular preventive maintenance on electrical boards, machines and plant systems.
• Support operation of high voltage, high current power distribution equipment and experimental systems.
• Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment.
• May require working in confined spaces using appropriate safety equipment

Required Skills:

• Knowledge and use of a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and diagnostics equipment, as well as various material handling equipment.
• Knowledge of pipe benders, cable pullers, and other heavy ancillary equipment preferred.
• Soldering experience preferred.
• Aerial equipment experience required.
• Must be mechanically inclined.
• Must have strong safety awareness and knowledge of isolation procedures for systems containing stored energy.

Highly Preferred Experience:

• Project Experience:
  • 1-3 years proven experience in the build-up, installation, wiring, maintenance, and repair of electrical distribution systems OR associates degree, or additional training, or certification.
  • Experience with end-to-end commissioning of electrical equipment
  • Knowledge of approved wiring methods based on NEC codes and building codes for electrical installation and facilities
  • Experience performing a variety of mechanical tasks, plumbing maintenance, and carpentry functions
  • Able to make decisions involving considerable initiative and ingenuity

Software Knowledge and Skills:

• Experience with Microsoft Office products and the ability to use web-based fault reporting systems is beneficial.
• Basic knowledge of NFPA and OSHA industrial electrical regulations.

Education:

• Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred Education: Enrolled in or completed a State recognized electrical certification program
