The Junior Estimator will be responsible for supporting the estimating team in the preparation of accurate and competitive proposals for low-voltage security projects. This role will require the individual to work closely with the sales team, project managers, and engineering team to understand the scope of work, gather and analyze data, and prepare cost estimates for materials, labor, and other project expenses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of detailed cost estimates for low voltage security projects, including but not limited to CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, and fire alarm systems
- Gather and analyze data, including drawings, specifications, and material lists
- Utilize estimating software and databases to input and maintain accurate cost data
- Collaborate with the sales team, project managers, and engineering team to understand project requirements and ensure estimates are accurate and complete
- Review and understand project contracts and specifications
- Attend project kick-off meetings and gather additional information as needed
- Continuously learn and stay up-to-date on industry standards, techniques, and technologies related to low-voltage security systems
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the security or low-voltage industry
- Knowledge of building codes and standards related to security systems
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and other design software
- Experience with project management principles and practices
