Interim Kitchen Manager

Full time, TEMPORARY, Day Shift

SUMMARY:
The Kitchen Manager ensures that all health standards and regulations related to food service are met; maintains a cooking and serving environments that are sanitary and safe; prepares and serves nutritious meals in accordance with the standards of VOA, and relevant federal and state agencies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Kitchen Operations

  • Develops menu plan/meals that meet the dietary needs for adults and children, and are in compliance with funder regulations.
  • Ensures that the kitchen maintains a complete and properly-labeled food inventory, and uses food efficiently, minimizing waste.
  • Ensures the ongoing cleanliness and proper functioning of the kitchen and all kitchen equipment in accordance with relevant regulatory agencies and Volunteers of America policies.
  • Completes monthly quality control audits of the kitchen/storage and dining areas.
  • Orders food and oversees restocking of inventory as it comes into the facility.
  • Prepare and serve meals.

Financial, Reporting and Regulatory Responsibilities

  • Submits invoices to finance in a timely manner.
  • Provides reports to appropriate agency staff as needed to meet all regulatory, grant and contract guidelines.
  • Obtains quotes as needed and purchases food or equipment necessary for operations or grant and contract compliance.
  • Perform all PREA-related requirements as specified in agency PREA policies.
  • Adheres to contract obligations and reporting procedures for all relevant funders.
  • Assists in the creation of annual budgets, and monitors all expenditures food service operations.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3 years of previous cooking experience, required
  • Willingness to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed
  • Food Safety training certificate is required within the first two weeks of hire, and on an annual basis, unless otherwise indicated
  • Valid NYS Drivers License
  • Ability to pass Federal background check
  • COVID 19 Vaccination
