POSITION SUMMARY

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing routine laboratory functions in support of the lab. This position is responsible for receiving and cataloguing samples, ensuring proper chain of custody and laboratory safety guidelines are adhered to, setting up, testing, adjusting, calibrating, and maintaining lab equipment, and writing reports on all findings.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

· Receive laboratory samples and catalogue samples into laboratory network.

· Properly set up, test, adjust, and calibrate lab equipment to ensure results meet quality standards.

· Recommend testing based on client requests/problems.

· Dispose of samples and document chain-of-custody reports.

· Run samples through the appropriate tests and analyses to ensure accurate results.

· Record results and write reports on all findings.

· Coordinate with all laboratory staff, corporate administrative staff, vendors, and clients to meet requirements.

· Additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/TRAINING

· High school diploma or equivalent with college-level Chemistry or Biology coursework.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

· Basic knowledge and understanding of chemical hazards and safety equipment used in laboratory.

· Basic understanding of good laboratory practices.

· Strong computer skills (MS Excel and database use)

· Ability to accurately document and maintain records.

· Ability to establish and maintain effective, professional working relationships with laboratory and other personnel

· Ability to interact with customers professionally needed. Technician should communicate clearly and establish working relationships with customers

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

· Valid state driver’s license.

· Must be available for standby assignments and work scheduled off-hours and emergency overtime as required.

· Must occasionally be available for additional work hours.

· Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
