CTUIR MISSION STATEMENT

Exercise the Tribe?s sovereign authority to achieve the maximum protection of resources identified in the Treaty of 1855, to protect newly acquired lands wherein the Tribe has a vested interest, to protect the lands of all the citizens and residents of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. This position will protect human life, water, land, air, and wildlife by exercising professional skills and abilities in the protection of the resources of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

This is a semi-skilled position in the care and maintenance of Housing Department grounds. Work involves the responsibility for a variety of tasks in the care and upkeep of lawn areas and buildings. The duties of this position require physical labor and the use of mechanical equipment. Use of individual judgment in typical work situations is expected, but supervision is exercised by a supervisor who issues general instructions and inspects by direct observation.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Weed, seed, water, cultivate and mow all lawns and give general care to lawns. Shapes and controls trees and bushes to desired size by pruning;

2. Operation of mechanical equipment and the general care and maintenance of equipment is required to provide for the equipment?s efficient usage and upkeep; ex. lawn mower, weed whipper, chainsaw, leaf blower etc.

3. Participates in general labor and maintenance tasks such as painting, picking up debris, burning rubbish, cleaning gutters and drains, washing windows;

4. Responsible for keeping the playgrounds, parks and community project areas clean and in good appearance;

5. Responsible for notifying the Maintenance Manager of any irregularities or matters of concern as discovered while working in the community areas;
