Learning & Development Supervisor (The Ridge-West De Pere) Job at Capital Credit Union
Position Purpose
The Learning & Development Supervisor position supports, promotes, and teaches Capital’s mission, vision, and objectives while developing training programs related to overall organizational needs. Responsible for supporting all aspects of learning and development for the Credit Union, selecting the appropriate modalities for training, and ensuring training efforts align with the business goals of the Credit Union.
Essential Responsibilities
- Analyzes business needs to develop new programs and/or modify and improve existing programs.
- Plan, develop, and present training and staff development programs and selecting the appropriate modalities including classroom training, on-the-job training, workshops, e-learning, and virtual training.
- Manages a team of Learning & Development Specialists and Instructional Designers. Focuses on development of these employees, including coaching, engagement, on-going education relating to learning and development and instructional design, performance appraisals, recommending salary adjustments and promotions, and directing staff meetings.
- Provides guidance on developing courses, events, and other programs to meet and exceed regulatory requirements, best practices, and established standards.
- Works with Supervisors to develop training plans for various positions with an emphasis on Tellers, Member Service Representatives, and Universal Employee positions.
- Works as part of a team of department heads and branch managers to support the Credit Union’s vision and objectives and is an active member of meetings of these groups.
- Oversees administration of employee evaluations for Tellers, Member Service Representatives, and Universal Employees.
- Oversees projects involving learning and development employees and ensures the completion of projects by assisting with prioritization, organization, and other elements of the project management process.
- Maintains and expands knowledge on Learning & Development concepts such as Instructional Design, Learning Modalities, Facilitation Strategies, Technology used in Learning & Development, and Adult Learning.
- Ensures department phone calls and emails are addressed immediately or in a timely manner. Communicates and upholds department standards to employees of the department and those who interact with the department.
- Communicates to the AVP – Learning & Development regarding performance concerns, training needs, training effectiveness, revision suggestions, etc.
- Assists in the maintenance of a Corporate University.
- Assists the AVP-Learning & Development in reporting accomplishments and L&D measures to Management and the Board of Directors.
- Maintains the Shadowing program for the Credit Union for new hires. Recommends changes to the program and calculates shadowing incentives.
Necessary Experience and Qualifications
- Five (5) years learning and development experience, including needs analysis, program development, training delivery, instructional design, and performance consulting, required.
- Three (3) years professional knowledge and experience in financial services, preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience and demonstrated ability to effectively engage teams and build relationships, preferred.
- Ability to coach a team on collaboration, personality differences, upholding standards, and quality of work.
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for over 80 percent of the work time. Must be able to closely examine documentation and requires a high level of accuracy.
- Consistent positive attitude and the ability to demonstrate responsibility and professionalism and support overall business objectives.
- Strong initiative: can accomplish goals with minimal supervision.
- Requires EXCELLENT communication and listening skills necessary to instruct new and existing employees and deal diplomatically and effectively with sensitive situations.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills. Ability to present in front of a large audience.
- Strong time and project management skills and the ability to help coordinate and prioritize multiple job duties.
- Event planning skills necessary for large Credit Union employee events.
- Occasional travel for training, as well as meetings, seminars, or conferences.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend specific and sometimes technical instructions, short and detailed correspondence, and memos; the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals as normally acquired through completion of a high school education.
- Ability to work in a varied environment, ranging from staying in one place or working in a confined area for extended periods of time, or traveling to all locations. A valid driver’s license is required for this position.
