Position Description
The
Department of English invites applicants for a Lecturer position. The successful applicant will teach three sections of College Writing I paired with English Language Arts and Reading (75% FTE) or other core courses as needed. The successful applicant will also carry out administrative responsibilities (25% FTE) focused on supporting faculty assigned to teach ELAR co-requisite writing courses. These responsibilities include developing training materials and a core curriculum for ELAR co-requisite writing courses; providing training and mentoring to faculty assigned to teach these courses; collecting, analyzing, and reporting student success data; and fostering and maintaining effective communications and relationships with the University Writing Center. The successful applicant will provide additional service to the department as needed—including but not limited to serving on the university’s Developmental Education Advisory Council. All positions are subject to availability of funds.
Required Qualifications
Graduate degree in English in hand.
Experience as teacher of record for secondary and/or post-secondary writing courses.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience training and mentoring writing instructors.
Ability to develop a developmental writing core curriculum.
Ability to develop student learning outcomes assessments and reports.
