The Bank Teller/Personal Banker will complete deposits, withdrawals, and other financial interactions while providing excellent customer service to all customers.
Supervisory responsibility: None
Education & Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent is required.
· Previous experience working directly with the public & handling cash is preferred.
· Previous banking experience preferred but not required.
· Basic computer experience with knowledge of Microsoft Excel & Word.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read, write, speak & understand English well (Spanish as a 2nd language is an asset but not required).
- Ability to clearly communicate with internal & external customers, management & fellow employees.
· Ability to question customers to determine their banking needs & to cross-sell banking products.
· Must be able to distinguish each denomination of money.
- Excellent math skills.
- Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail & ability to complete or resume tasks despite interruptions.
· Trustworthiness & the ability to act with integrity.
· Flexibility & initiative to learn numerous areas of banking to fulfill job function.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
· Safeguard the bank’s cash and the security of the working environment while performing routine transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments and other financial transactions in accordance with the bank’s policies and procedures
· Identifies and capitalizes on opportunities to promote new banking services.
· Balances cash drawer daily following bank policies and teller/over short procedures at the end of shifts.
· Provide secondary verification of all teller cash sales to the main vault.
· Prepares monies for deposit or shipment to the Federal Reserve Bank.
· Additional duties include but are not limited to balance main cash vault, settlement of ATM, collections, mail processing, document imaging, order supplies, general housekeeping, & other related duties as assigned.
· Represent the branch in a personable, efficient manner when in contact with our customers whether in person or by telephone.
· Must complete training & become knowledgeable in BSA, OFAC and Customer Identification regulations, & following policies & procedures in these areas.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
· Sitting/Mobility: Approximately 70% of time is spent standing and/or spent working at a desk/teller station; the balance of time is spent moving around work areas.
· Communication: Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, members, and outside agencies in writing, in person, and over the phone.
· Vision: Ability to effectively use a computer screen and interpret printed materials, memo’s, and other appropriate paperwork.
· Lifting/Carrying: Ability to transport boxes of coin, files & office supplies. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
· Stooping/Kneeling: Ability to access files/stock supplies in high or low cabinets and shelves.
· Reaching/Handling: Ability to input information into computer systems and retrieve and work with appropriate paperwork, equipment, and supplies.
