Job Title: Locomotive Engineer
Location: This Position has availability at all UGC Montana locations: Conrad, Culbertson, Moccasin, and Pompey's Pillar
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Classification: Part-time as needed
Work Schedule: Scheduled to meet production requirements in a 24 hour / 7 day a week business. Schedule will include some nights, weekends, holidays and split shifts.

Job Summary
This position is for dedicated, hard-working individuals who are looking for a chance to prove they can learn new tasks, advance and take any and all responsibility for their safe work behavior and the safety of their coworkers, and crew. These tasks include, but are not limited to: Driving the locomotive as grain is filled into rail cars and any other activity, as required. This position will be required to maintain a positive, forthright attitude that promotes a collaborative, respectful, and diverse Corporate culture, and conducts themselves in a professional and favorable manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform your job tasks in a safe manner in compliance with UGC safety programs and procedures.
- Take responsibility for your safe work behavior.
- Maintain your work area and facilities properly.
- Provide courteous and responsive customer service to co-workers.
- Assist in the loading of grain commodities by rail.
- Observe operations and monitor lights, dials, and gauges to maintain specified equipment operations.
- Identify, diagnose and resolve mechanical problems that affect rail operations
- Identify and document equipment defects on the Daily Equipment Inspection Report
Qualifications
- High School diploma/GED
- 18 years of age or older
- Must have a valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Must reside near one of our Montana locations listed
- Experience working on an on-call basis
- Experience working varying shift schedules
- Medium to Heavy Work, lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 83 pounds on a rare basis
- Stoop/bend/kneel/crouch/crawl/balance/climb
- Ride on the outside of rail equipment for long periods of time
- Walk long distances over uneven terrain
- Demonstrate auditory and visual acuity/tracking/inspection
- Must meet color vision requirements as described in the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
