Maintenance Assistant
Job Description
- Inspect, maintain, and repair the following equipment as necessary: HVAC systems and filters, lighting, water systems, and filters, sewer systems, exhaust fans and filters, motors, pumps, squirrel cages, and glycol hot water systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance to equipment as per manufacturers' recommendations. Maintain records of preventative maintenance performed.
- Inspect, maintain and repair bleachers, playground equipment, and sporting equipment.
- Monitoring of fire alarm systems, emergency lighting systems, and battery backup systems.
- Painting interior and/or exterior walls and doors of all textures and compositions.
- Assist with concrete work.
- Perform minor carpenter work.
- Perform maintenance and repair of door locking and access hardware.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
- May be required to be on-call during inclement weather.
- Assist groundskeepers in repairing sprinklers, low voltage irrigation systems, underground piping, trimming trees, pulling weeds, garbage, landscaping, fence repairs, and other related grounds maintenance.
- Assist groundskeepers with pesticide and fertilizer application.
- Assist groundskeepers with sports fields. Striping, chalking, field prep, fencing, leveling, and other duties as needed in support of athletics.
- Move furniture, chairs, tables, and other large items as needed for education.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly.
- Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Department supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School graduate, or GED.
- Valid Washington State driver’s license.
- CDL License Required*
- Pesticide Application License Required**
- Apprentice trade skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, welding or painting with experience in and/or knowledge of the others.
- CDL License Required: The selected candidate has 90 days from employment to obtain CDL if he/she is not currently licensed.
**Pesticide Application License Required: The selected candidate has one year from the date of hire to obtain a pesticide application license.
Terms of Employment
Starting Date: TBD
Salary: Per PSE CBA - Schedule A
Hours: 8.0 hours/day
Contracted Days: 248 work days & 12 holidays (260 total contracted days)
