Position Summary:
Perform all mechanical maintenance needed to maintain safe and efficient Feed Mill and feed delivery operations. Complete Preventive Maintenance, keep accurate records, parts requisitions and inventory management. Inspect mill equipment daily for potential mechanical and electrical problems and implement corrective action. Conduct consistent hourly checks on boiler room. Respond to equipment breakdowns, determine and coordinate the proper resources to address and solve problem. Monthly inspection of leg belts and cups. Maintain required written records and reports on work performed, corrective actions and parts management.

Key Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Monthly Preventive Maintenance
• Operate shop equipment to repair and maintain mill equipment
• Perform daily activities needed to ensure safe and clean working conditions
• Welding duties using a wire welder.
• Operate forklifts, hoists, power tools, slings, grinders, cutting torch and hand tools to perform necessary tasks.
• Read, understand and follow job order specifications, engineering drawings and/or work orders.
• Cross-train in order to be able to perform work in other roles if required.
• Inspect equipment to maintain functionality, notify supervisor/lead or maintenance department if equipment is in need of repairs.
• Perform various complicated tasks as required.
• Ability to handle routine mechanical tasks including but not limited to manual blow-downs, changing sight glasses, regenerate softener's, pipe fitting change-outs and housekeeping.

Educations/Experience Requirements:

• High School Diploma required.
• Technical training in Mechanical and Electrical, Plumbing
• Computer skills
• 5 - 10 years of Mechanical Maintenance experience, feed mill experience is highly desirable

Competencies:

• Safety - Ensure all safety standards are met and followed to the fullest extent possible; must remain alert at all times and use best judgment at all times.
• Housekeeping - Ensure that work areas are maintained clean and litter-free at all times - sweeping, dusting and debris removal are all mandatory parts of housekeeping.
• Security - Ensure site security at all times, checking access doors to make sure they remain closed at all times and question, control and report people who do not belong in the work area.

Mathematical Skills

• Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Must be able to compute rate, ratio and percentage and draw and interpret bar graphs.

Other Skills and Abilities

• Must have basic Electrical and Plumbing knowledge
• Must know how to use various kinds of electrical meters
• Must be familiar with applicable OSHA safety rules

Physical Demands

• While performing the duties of this role the employee is regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop and kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
• Frequently required to stand and climb or balance.
• Occasionally required to sit.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Must be able to adapt to work environments which could include cold and heat.
• Will be exposed to high noise levels.
• Data entry while seated for greater than one hour
• Must be able to work in an agricultural environment - indoors, outdoors, office, warehouse, processing, and farm production areas, each varying in temperature, odor and other environment-specific atmospheres.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $29.00 per hour

• Rocky Mount, NC: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
