Marketing Content and Communications Specialist Job at MCPHS University
The Marketing Content and Communications Specialist serves as an in-house journalist as well as an advisor to University stakeholders, producing content and crafting communications plans and collateral with key audiences in mind. The specialist mines the organization for stories, interviews sources, writes articles, and contributes to the development of multimedia, including videos and infographics, that will resonate with prospective and current students, faculty, staff, and alumni. The specialist also works with leaders to frame and articulate important programs and initiatives, leveraging the appropriate channels to communicate with internal and external audiences. This storyteller will create content and evolve processes and practices based on data as the University continues to build its reputation as a leader in health and life sciences education through earned, owned, and paid media. This position offers a flexible work arrangement and opportunity to work remote part of the week.
- Writes news, features, profiles, and other stories for audiences, shaping compelling short- and long-form content for a variety of channels.
- Co-creates multimedia—including images, infographics, and videos—with team members to catch and hold the attention of audiences.
- Drafts copy for University web pages, fact sheets, brochures, etc. to highlight MCPHS programs and initiatives.
- Shapes and executes communications plans with leaders, which includes defining goals, developing key messages, and proposing and producing communications collateral.
- Develops a network of contacts across the University to support story mining and pitching.
- Contributes to the development of audience personas that will guide content creation.
- Uses Google Analytics and web reporting tools to monitor, track, and analyze trends, with a focus on the performance of news, feature stories, and videos. Shares insights and recommendations with the content team.
- Works with SEO software/tools to develop and execute ongoing SEO strategy and improvements to website content.
- Assists in the oversight of editorial guidelines so that content is consistent in style and tone across channels and publications.
- Executes proofreading, editing, and quality assurance for communications collateral.
- Monitors digital marketing trends across all tactics and channels and applies knowledge to increase engagement and best practices for University branding.
Required:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or related degree program.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant journalism, communications, or marketing experience.
- Established portfolio of stories, multimedia pieces, and/or communications collateral that includes both short- and long-form content.
- Proven ability to meet project deadlines while maintaining strong relationships with team members and stakeholders.
- Experience shaping content iteratively in a team environment and incorporating feedback while advocating for the audience.
- Exceptional professional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated and resourceful with attention to detail.
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
Physical Requirements:
- Standing, sitting, manual dexterity, ability to move between offices and floors of buildings
- Ability to meet deadlines and perform well under pressure
- Ability to be physically in attendance at designated worksite during scheduled work hours
- Normal range of vision and hearing (with or without correction)
- Ability to lift up to 5-10 lbs
