Material Manager
The Materials Manager is responsible for all operations and tasks in materials management, inventory, and shipping & receiving operations. This position supervises staff to ensure the plant has an adequate and timely flow of material to support production and on time shipments to customers.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Manage the overall stocking of inventory. Create and monitor jobs to replenish stock inventory. Monitor inventory turns and manage obsolete/dead inventory.
  • Manages all shipping and receiving functions and oversees the storage of purchased parts and finished goods. Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously. Logistics background is preferred.
  • Supervise cycle counting for stock inventory.
  • Coordinate and supervise warehouse operations. Oversee picking material for production and resolve material shortages.
  • Hire, train and develop hourly and salaried staff. Develop and maintain departmental training procedures to ensure safety and quality in an atmosphere of continuous improvement. Participate in 6S quality improvement.
  • Prioritize workloads and schedules. Reallocate resources appropriately.
  • Process RMAs.
  • Ensure department operates in accordance with safety processes and procedures. Attend monthly safety meetings.
  • Serves as a proactive liaison with other departments to assist with resolving issues relating to materials, receiving and shipping.
  • Works closely with the Purchasing Department in purchased material receipts and stock inventory levels.
  • Is the liaison and coordinator with our main freight vendor on large equipment loads to include pre-ship meetings and equipment walk-throughs.
  • Attends daily operational meeting, weekly scheduling meeting, and monthly budget meetings.
  • Updates and maintains all processes, work instructions, and forms pertaining to department in support of ISO requirements.
  • Other responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency required; 4 year degree in related field preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years experience required in management of material, inventory, and/or shipping and receiving.
  • Accounting/finance experience preferred.
  • Experience in crane or heavy equipment manufacturing industry and/or related field such as manufacturing or inventory management.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be self sufficient.
  • Must be familiar with ERP systems. Epicor or MRP experience is a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office.
