School Year 2022-2023: Math Tutor/TA at TAPA: Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts | Providence, RITAPA: Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts, an academically rigorous public charter school for the arts, seeks a Math Tutor/TA to work with students in grades 7-12. The ideal candidate recognizes and celebrates the interconnections between the Maths and the arts through a culturally responsive pedagogical framework.TAPAs anti-oppression creative community is enriched by the cultural, religious, racial, ethnic, and linguistic diversity of our neurodiverse families, students, and employees. Demographically, nearly all members of the TAPA student body are people of color, predominantly Latinx, with many students speaking both English and Spanish in their homes. A significant portion of TAPAs student body identifies as members of the LGBTQ+ community. It is an organizational priority for TAPA to hire staff members who have cultural commonalities with our students and families. The Math Tutor will provide academic supports to students in their math classes. This role does not necessarily require advanced mathematics skills; students seeking tutoring are generally struggling with math at the Algebra/Geometry level. At TAPA, Math is taught through a collaboration of blended learning utilizing Imagine Learning Classroom, arts-integration, and the green-standard Illustrative Math curriculum. TAPA math classes are small with 18 or fewer students, and the curriculum is highly accessible. When not supporting students with developing mathematical skills, the TA/Tutor may also be called upon to support with hallways and administrative tasks. At its core, TAPA is a student-centered caring community that fosters leadership, intellect, self-confidence, and responsibility. Inclusion, equity, social justice, and diversity frameworks are core components of every course.
